Mobile Sites (WAP/WML)

Hi GPWAers,

I was just curious to see if anyone had any experience with creating/promoting via mobile sites, ie WML/WAP sites. I know that there's been a lot of reports about the growth of mobile gaming, but I haven't seen a huge amount of discussion around this in the forums.

Anyone tried creating a WAP sub-domain of their regular site?

Anyone tried promoting a mobile casino via WAP/WML?

Anyone had any luck driving traffic through the mobile web?

The only mobile gaming that I promote is through Slotland.com mobile games. They are offering a $20 bonus to test out their mobile slots games, and I have done alrigth with them, but nothing serious yet, but I will say, I think this is an area that is going to grow quite big in the near future. Also, a lot of new cell phones and PDA are coming with games like Texas Hold Em, just to play for fun, and you see this trend of people playing these kind of games "for fun" on public transit and so on, so in my opinion it will only be a matter of time before people are playing for real money on their mobile devices on a regular basis.

I agree, its clear that mobile gaming and mobile commerce as a whole has huge potential. I think the proliferation of handsets with better browsing will have a lot to do with it, as well as simply more/better content on the mobile web giving the average user more reasons to jump on.

Do you promote by a mobile site or through a regular website?

I'm curious because I've read a lot of studies that indicate that its hard to get users to "make the leap" from web to mobile, so by promoting with a mobile site you avoid that pitfall.

However, this brings up the question of how to drive substantial traffic through the mobile channel.

Any thoughts?
