Default The Stardust now just Dust!

The Stardust Hotel and Casino imploded early Tuesday in a hail of fireworks to make way for Boyd Gaming Corp.'s $4.4 billion megaresort Echelon.

While I hate to see classic Vegas slowly being demolished one icon after the next, I will say the stardust was not kept up well. When I stayed there in 2005 (and back from CAC in 2006) everything about the place was old. The cocktail waitresses were especially disappointing! But the rooms were dark and dingy, the casino lacked any energy. I welcome a change. I'll be more upset when the frontier goes - no more bikini bull riding or mud wrestling on the strip!

    Fantastic video!!

I always find it amazing how these controlled explosions are so accurate and take down huge buildings in seconds. I always feel a little sad to when all those memories and history are wiped out forever too.

    Great pyrotechnics as well!

I once was at a place where the controlled implosion of two big buildings took place. It is an awesome thing to see.
