Mobile Friendly Sites Test

Remember Google recent announcement about mobile friendly sites ?
Well if not so here it is again: As of 21 April, 2015, sites will be ranked according to their mobile-friendly level!

The bottom is that all sites that are not mobile friendly, or with a poor mobile usability, will be demoted in Google results !

I just find this great tool to help you go mobile.

Also static html sites can pass the check with a few new lines of code in the head and style.css.

Note this google demotation is for mobile browsers only as well, but you wouldnt want to lose any traffic!

Thanks for the mozilla & opera tools Leopold.
I work with firefox as well and there are still slight differences between Chrome and Fire fox so its important to be on the safe side and make sure
your site is adjusted to all browsers!

I would suggest to check all the rest including explorer but the last time I heard Microsoft is going to kill it very soon and launch Spartan so...

These guys are talking about how to emulate a mobile device from the desktop, so they can check serps using a keyboard instead of a keypad

True. Most of my traffic is from Desktop, but the mobile traffic is growing at a good pace, so I'm now racing to finish converting the last of my sites.

They also have a tool here where you can test your speed for mobile and desktop. Speed is also becoming important to Google.

Of note, after you run your page through this test, at the bottom of the page you can see a zip file which will contain optimized images and other resources which will help your site. I personally think it is pretty cool of Google to give that to you.

In my opinion, having a mobile friendly/responsive website design should not be an option anymore, especially for online businesses.
I believe that it is a must-have, since people now prefer using portable devices when searching online. Besides, these changes are made for users preference.

Yes, actually this was always there I think for over a year already but Google didn't use this data until now

First thing I do on my iphone is look for the full site link, I hate mobile versions 99% of the time. Zooming in works 100%?

I completely understand this action, I'm doing it as well on lots of sites but I also see many sites which are completely adjusted to mobile
which means you can reach any place on the site same as if you were visited from the full site (regular site version).

My point is that if the site is fully responsive you wont be needing the full site link because, you'll be able to access any page on the site
and be able to read content without moving the pages from right to left, watch images while they are adjusted to your screen, basically use any service the site has to offer in a user friendly interface !

I had installed a mobile package like a year ago, and had a few plugins to make all tables and images responsive as well, so when I first started this tool a week or two ago and some of the pages didn't pass the test I was really really surprised. (according to Google, there's no half-optimized, either your page IS or ISNT).

Turns out, when I was blocking some directories in my robot.txt i've blocked the Google bot from accessing a few scripts and images, once I removed those lines it worked just fine. So in case some of you run into this problem, but you are sure your site/pages should past the test, be sure to look into this.
