Default Unibet receives gaming licenses in France

Online gambling company Unibet is the latest operator to be granted French gaming licenses. The company applied for the licenses in May. The GPWA has a press release about the transaction, with an interesting quote from Unibet's CEO:

As published on ARJEL's homepage, Unibet has received the licenses the Company applied for in May 2010.

This is in line with earlier communication where Unibet has stressed that under the restrictive terms of the licence, it will be hard for any operator to make a reasonable return.

"That we now received these licenses is a first step. To receive a significant return on the French market, the terms need to be more favourable. It is our expectations that this will happen in the longer term", comments Henrik Tjärnström, CEO Unibet.

Online casinos really have to secure French licenses in order to abide with the French law and accept French players. Well, good for them.

I think the CEO of of Unibet said what many others are thinking, "To receive a significant return on the French market, the terms need to be more favourable. It is our expectations that this will happen in the longer term".

There will have to be some changes on the French side to make it worth it to do business with them. Hopefully they will be sooner than later.

I've noticed that a lot of smaller operators are still accepting French players.

    I'm curious:

    1) Are players actually able to deposit and withdraw at these casinos/sportsbooks?

    2) Are affiliates with French traffic willing to work with these "grey market" operators considering the uncertain future?

Securing a gaming license is France is the best idea for Univet instead of always being chased by the French government and it's authorities.
