How does one even get traffic on Baidu? I think I could probably count the number of hits we have gotten from that search engine on one of my hands in the last decade.

Baidu reacted much faster than Google when I switched to https .... But unless your site is in Chinese I don`t see any point to care about Baidu at all...

Unless your site is Asian focused, then Baidu is a complete waste of time. While on the topic, there are numerous 'fake' Baidu bots. They use bogus UA identifiers. Unlike the legit Baidu, the fakes don't respect robot.txt, and instead will visit a site at least once per day, sucking down the same page content. Thus sucking your bandwidth.

Agree with others that Baidu is not worth bothering about. Whoever searches there is not your customer, unless you cater for the Chinese population? Difference between Google and Baidu is massive. Google is harder to rank.

I have never heard of BAIDU. All our traffic is from Google. Would be interested to know if anyone has had any success with other SEngines like Bing or Yahoo?

I've had a lot of success with Bing and Yahoo in the past. Especially Bing. I still do now, but just not as good as there is more competition in the market these days.

Hi, I just started submitting my sites to a lot of different search engines, and I still continue doing that on a regular basis. Yes, you're absolutely correct. It also works differently across territories as you mentioned.

Interesting - did you configure your site differently to compete there? And does it work differently across territories?

quite a lot of casinos rent placements on hacked sites rather than trying to rank their own site directly. search for betting keywords in chinese and you'll find that result ~#5 to ~#30 are one-by-one all hacked websites.

there are hundreds of chinese trade rooms where sites that are already ranking top5 for betting keywords and operator brand name keywords, are being rented out at prices of up to several thousand us$ per day.i have not seen any european/western-owned chinese betting operators go this route, but 100% asian-owned operators are all in on it

Hey, that's very interesting question for me, I have never talked about this with someone. I was talking with one guy about the difference between Google and Yandex, but I have never met someone who was worried about Baidu.

I agree with it that unless your site is Asian focused, then Baidu is a complete waste of time. Do you plan to run a casino in Asian countries, or what?
If someone has experience with these two search engines I would like to know more, just to gain some more knowledge.

Thank you and have a nice day.

I was working on a multilingual website which had 3 local domains in Chinese 2-3 years ago and we had to deal with Baido.
    Here's what I recall:

First you need to verify your domain at their "search console" and it gives you very little info and options at beginning.
Then with time (maybe having more traffic) you qualify to add sitemaps, etc.
They also gave you an option to display your company phone number, logo in the search results, like rich snippets.
Chinese Simplified content was indexed and ranked better than Traditional.
Back then it was available in Chinese only and for verification you needed a local phone number, not sure how it is now.

They had a "keyword planner" tool, which you had to download to your PC and it was extremely slow.

    Hope things are better now.
