If I initiate the link exchange, I am more than happy to fill out the form. But if you initiate the link exchange, DO NOT ask me to go to a bunch of sites and fill out forms. ESPECIALLY from a bunch of pr0 sites.

I got the same email today - I Deleted It!

And Yes, these kind of "invitations" annoy the hell out of me also!

If you're already linking to me, and want me to link back, then by all means send me an email and I'll be glad to respond. But, emails like the one above are Nothing More Then SPAM!

[techwoman]

I got the same one yesterday and I am going to delete it. I have an automated program too and I feel the same way if someone else is initiating it they should fill out my form.

[Doolally]

Me too and it's gone.

I was nice and sent an email back though.

[kidd75219]

Was it a nice email?

[Doolally]

Nicer than it could have been.

Just pointed out that I won't link with PR0 sites.

Must've caught me on a good day.

[techwoman]

I got tired of emailing because I get so many of them. After a while it gets frustrating. My sites clearly have links to adding a link and to links. How hard could that be? I have clear instructions as well.

[kidd75219]

I have no problem linking with a pr0 site, if the pr0 is because it is new. But I will not initiate a pr0 link, and I definitely will not fill out forms for a prr0 link.

Hi Guys,

I'm new in here and I'm not sure what all the fuss about.
I agree that these sites are probably new and their webmaster want to raise their popularity...

Isn't it what we are all doing?

I think I will exchange links with them for the reason I also have new sites and I sure need some backward links...

I also would like to exchange links with you guys if you don't mind...

[jonnythesmall]

I'm sure that all of you started with pr0 and you did wanted people to exchange links with you.

Think about it.

Hi Jonny

What is a problem is sending a busy webmaster to 10 pages to sign up for you.

What many link seekers do is right click, view source, and use your title and description as the link details. They then send you a mail saying they have linked you and would you mind linking back. This means simply adding the links to your pages if you don't use links manager (like me).

As it is though, I am now hiring a young lady to look after my links part time because I have fallen way behind.

I agree that linking has good motives but the newbie must be prepared to do that little bit extra to link to bigger sites.

If you are new, you are going to quickly find out that the bigger and more mature your site becomes, the less time you have to respond to e-mails let alone go and fill in forms. I am by far smaller than the guys who posted above and already have more than enough on my plate.

So, create the link for the webmaster. If you use his title and description, you will generally be accepted. If the guy has links manager, you can even submit your site to his and links manager will check to see that the reciprocal link is in place. It is all made very easy. These guys pay Links Manager each month so that they don't have to spend hours maintaining links.

Good luck and may your portal grow from strength to strength.

I agree jonnythesmall.

That's why Randy stated, and many many others here agree, that most of us WILL in fact exchnage links with sites that are pr0's and pr1's.

If you read Kidd's statement, he clearly pointed out, that a webmaster has to initiate the exchnage, by placcing the link first, and writing him and he will exchnange.

I am a bit that way as well. I want the opportunity to view your site, and see where you plan on putting my link, and also the opportunity to be sure you are not hiding the links (sometimes un intentionally) from the spiders. (In fact, if I like the site, often I will place your link on multiple sites and request the exchange)

If I feel that you are not allowing access to your exchanged links by the spiders, I will quite often respond with an email explaining the problem and giving the option of writing back with a new request once the problems are corrected.

I always try to take link exchanges, (front page or otherwise) into consideration based upon a sites content, overall look and feel, and "Value of the link to my visitor" more so than pr alone.

There are some members here, that will even exchange with others on their front page REGARDLESS of pr....just to help out. I must say I have done that a few times as well.

Please provide us with a link to your site, and I'm sure a few of us would be happy to take a look and some will probably consider an exchange with you.

Johnny,

The problem is NOT that they are trying to get link exchanges, it's the way they're going about it.

This person simply sent out a mass email to what ever webmaster's he/she could find. This takes little or no time to do and puts all of the burden on the people recieving the emails.

The proper way to exchange links is to visit a site and see if the webmaster has posted any instructions for link exchanges. If so, then you follow those directions. On the other hand if a site doesn't have any linking instructions then ...assuming you still want to exchange links... you should put a link to their site on yours, and then contact the other webmaster with your information.

The bonehead who sent me that email essentially said - here, even though you don't know me, stop what you're doing and add my links to your site, once that's done, send another email back to me --telling me where all my links are. Once you've finshied doing all that, I'll add your links to my site.

[universal4]

yep...i agree Dave...

what'd it take me to do yours...about 4 days??

Of course that was 180 links...

And, that was exactly how I did it, I added ALL of his links and then posted my links to his form....until all were complete.

David, many of us look forward to the day when all of your link pages hit pr4
