New football predictions site - One important question

Hello everyone,

I am new here, just found this forum online and I think this is the best place to get an answer to my question.

So, I operate in the UK, although I travel a lot, but my SEO services company is incorporated in the UK. In my travels I had the opportunity to befriend 2 very talented football fans that provide astonishing football predictions. And we decided to create a new website for football predictions.

The main sources of revenue would be:
1. A VIP subscription that users would have to pay to get more predictions.
2. As an affiliate of bookmaker.

The website will be owned and operated by my company with the 2 tipsters as employees. I searched and read a lot online but I couldn't figure out if my company needs a gambling licence. I read the 2005 Gambling act and 2014 additions, but I don't have legal experience so I got lost in words. I know SEO, and that's enough to keep me busy.

I would really really appreciate it if you could clear this for me.

also bear in mind that google will kick you off their ad network pretty quickly too as they put "predictions" in a "betting" bucket, regardless or not of whether you show bookie odds/lines to compliment your data...

You don't need any gambling licence, however, you are entering very competetive niche (especially UK market). If you want to fight for top SERP's good predictions are not enough - your competitors invest in their product, odds parsing, bet slip populated on affiliate page etc.

Keep away from Uk. You will see any results in 2-3 years + there are scary regulations + many bookmakers run away from that market and the "respected" names there shave affiliates dramatically.

Just search threads for WH , Betfair, BWin, Coral , Ladbrokes and My favorite : Betfair/ Paddy Power.

SEO I got covered. Not many things I'm good at, but this is one of them. I have ranked in top 3 for much more competitive niches.
A good programmer is hard to come by, but I will cross that bridge when I arrive to it.

I will not be targeting UK specifically. World wide. I have my eyes on some promising markets.

This does not look like a fresh idea, but it is quite suitable for implementation in the UK market. Such offers can be massively found on instagram and telegram in the territory of the former CIS countries. It would be interesting to watch your progress in the UK market.

Are you using machine-learning and / AI in your predictions (I know some people do this for computer picks) - or is your site based on human picks?

Be aware that your earning models work against each other:

* On the one hand, you want to go for affiliate earnings (so players preferably lose as much as possible).
* On the other hand, you want to go for subscriptions based on good betting tips (so players preferably win as much as possible).

As many above have said, football betting in the UK can be lucrative but is also incredibly difficult and competitive. Most of the top players now are larger companies buying links on a large scale.

And the choice in bookmakers is reducing by the day, not many reliable ones left.

If your predictions are good then you can definitely make it, because there's not one single resource out there that can make a reasonable betting prediction that doesn't look like it was written by a bot and that doesn't predict a win by the favourite in every single game.
