Default Possible SPAM by Third Party Promoting Affiliate Edge

Got a new SPAM message today ...

    ----- Original Message -----
    From: gian@gamingforumnetwork.com
    To:
    Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2011 2:10 PM
    Subject: GFN News - March 30, 2011

    tracking.affiliateedge.com/default.aspx?casinoID=181&AffUserID=1955&assetID=1 9

Never heard of gaming forum network and I sure have never given them my email address to send me promos.

AffUserID=1955 Who is this and why are they SPAMMING?

    Registrant:
    Gian Perroni

    Domain Name: GAMINGFORUMNETWORK.COM

    Domain servers in listed order:
    NS1.IGAMINGSUPPORT.COM
    NS2.IGAMINGSUPPORT.COM

    Registrant:
    Dominique Perroni

    Domain Name: IGAMINGSUPPORT.COM

    Domain servers in listed order:
    NS1.IGAMINGSUPPORT.COM
    NS2.IGAMINGSUPPORT.COM

I've got a feeling these are FAKE names, least I would hope so as Gian Perroni is quite well known in the industry.

Hopefully this email wasn't a cross-promotional email designed to get me away from Manhattan and playing at Club World, but the timing of this new SPAM to my recent sign up at Manhattan is at the very least suspicious.

    Hi Arkyt,

The email was from our company, and sorry for the spam. It had nothing to do with Manhattan, but was simply another issue of our weekly Gaming Forum Network mailer that has been sent for the past 2 years. All names on the list are from one of our forums (past and present); Suited Pockets, Poker Analysis, Poker Tokers, Gambling Gals, Rounders Radio, Poker Cartel, CEINT, and others. I will make sure you are off the list if you want to pm me your email and/or send it to gian@gamingforumnetwork.com

Again my sincere apologies. I take unsubscribes very seriously.

(FYI, these have nothing to do with our casino business. GFN is a part-time gig I share with other partners that are also affiliates.)

    Cheers,

    Gian

I have NEVER been a member of any of those forums you just posted. So, what other sites and/or ways could you have gotten my email?

Once again, I have never been a member of any of those sites you posted so I know you didnt get my email from any of those. Further I had never heard of gamingforumnetwork.com and thus never given them/you permission to email me via that site either.

Its' my stance that I did not opt in to receive your promos and as such I will not be opting out ... STOP all the SPAM, dont SPAM and then selectively remove complainers!

Can we take this out of the Affiliate Edge forum please and change the title of the thread as THIS DOES NOT RELATE TO SPAM FROM AFFILIATE EDGE?

Brian, you could have come to me direct and I would have answered this for you instead of immediately shouting from the hills and listing our program as SPAMMERS. If i went round calling affiliates spammers or rogue without a shred of evidence it would look come back and bite me on the ass, I'm pretty sure of that.

Please in future, come to me first, I'm pretty approachable and often online to chat Skype, MSN or email, I believe you have my direct number also. We spend years building up a good name and should this kind of thread gather pace it could seriously damage a companies name, especially with Affiliate Edge being so new following our rebrand.

    Thanks for listening.

What? Absolutely no way should the name of this thread be changed! This was/is 100% SPAM and the SPAM message was promoting Club World Casino. IF a title change was required the only one I would agree to would be "SPAM from Affiliate Edge Affiliate." OR "SPAM promoting Affiliate Edge Casinos" ...

The SPAMMER even came in and posted

Have you sent them a note about SPAMMING?

And NO I will not keep these things hush hush behind closed doors!

I also got it, but I'm not crying about it. But then again I signed up a while ago and worked with them last year when we had BJ tournies. By BJ I mean the card game before any gutter brains step in

I have noticed recently that you're posts are all about people spamming you or issues you have and no positive posts.

Can we change the record and work on something to make a positive post?

For starters - thanks for implying that I am crying about SPAM - that tells me a lot. Fact is, you signed up with them - I have never done so - if you refuse to acknowledge that fundamental difference I don't know what to say.

I wish I didnt have to post about SPAM, but its a major problem these days and I think programs like yours need to step up to the plate and help fight it instead of trying to censure those who do.

I'll speak with Gian on it, but you seem to be on a few peoples lists right now. Maybe it's a compliment?

Spam has also been called out (maybe not by you) when we/affiliate managers send out marketing emails or 'work with us emails'. It's not always the case but even so, if it's an affiliate manager getting in touch with an affiliate to do business...?

Fair play there is always the question about where people get email addresses from but if you get spam, hit the unsubscibe and move on. Thats what I do, and I get A LOT!

You had Gian's email address, you could have mailed him direct, he hardly tried to cover his tracks and if he did he did a crap job of it!

Likely because you are verifying that the SPAMMED email address is in fact a live account.... if I never opted in, I sure am not going to opt out.

I think GPWA should have a spam section .Seriously who has time to read an email and then come to forums and post a complaint about getting 'spam'? I get them every day and they go to junk mail or i use this cool button on my computer called D-E-L-E-T-E.

If you wish to ignore problems like SPAM, thats your choice; but dont come in here bitching / trying to belittle me because my choice is to actively fight the scum!

    Arkyt ,
I have met Gian and Martyn in person and NEITHER of these people are scum.Gian offered to research your email and find out what list it came from and remove you.We are all here to help each other not fight. And I believe GPWA DOES NEED a section just for Spam...

At this time Im not saying either of those guys are scum; what I am saying is that SPAM is scum and I choose to fight it rather than ignore it.

Gian listed a number of sites as potential methods he got my email - I've never been associated with any of those sites he listed and as such as I said if I didnt opt in, I'm not opting out! I fully expect the programs to take SPAM as serious if not more so than I personally do! I sure dont expect them to come in and blow my concerns off!

Arykt, could you provide Gian the email address used to they can investigate how that address was added to the contact list? I know you don't believe you joined, but in the passed I've seen cases where an affiliate had simply forgotten having signed up. Gian has expressed in interest in investigating and getting to the root of the problem to make absolutely sure they're not spamming. But in order to do that he needs the information necessary to investigate.

I'd still like to say that this IS NOT 'POSSIBLE AFFILIATE EDGE SPAM'.

If anything it's possible AFFILIATE SPAM, but that is yet to be confirmed by Gian.

I still think the title should be changed though as Affiliate Edge did not send it, one of our casino promotions was mentioned thats all!

GamTrak received the same email. I just put it in our spam folder. We've never signed up for it either. We received a "we want to work email from Fairway Casino". We declined and have gotten these emails ever since.

When you click on it, it goes to here

    xxxhttp://tracking.affiliateedge.com/Tracking.htm?casinoID=181&AffUserID=1955&assetID=1 9

    and then on to here

I already got it, but the fact is it's still not AFFILIATE EDGE SPAM.

At this time I would concur, I currently dont see this is as coordinated with the Affiliate Edge program ... as such I would agree with a title change to one of those I previously proposed "SPAM from Affiliate Edge Affiliate." OR "SPAM promoting Affiliate Edge Casinos" ... and will try to use this naming strategy in the future.

No, this isn't a case of "believing" this is a case of knowing.

This is unequivocally affirm this is NOT "possible" SPAM - and I disagree with that name change! If you wish to change my title I would ask that it be changed to accurately reflect the nature of the issue.

Personally I dont get "tons" of gambling SPAM - thats why when I do it sticks out like a sore thumb.
