Subpages of Archives indexed even though deactivated

Hi,

I am using Yoast seo plugin and have activated noindex for subpages of archives to prevent search engines from indexing /page/2 /page/3/ stuff etc of any archive. Unfortunately though, I just realized that there are many of those indexed @ google. Anyone have an idea why this is happening? Also, do you personally even care about that?

Did you made the chages long after the site was up?
