Sportsbetting vs Casino affiliate

Hello all, I am fairly new to the gambling affiliate scene, and I am curious to know which is more lucrative in your experience;

Sportsbetting

or

Casino gaming

?

In terms of revenue, which one produces more? Thanks for the info, as it is highly appreciated.

Personally, I say do what you love. While they are lumped into the same market, they are really worlds apart.

Speaking purely on lucrative terms, it depends. Sports betters tend to be more loyal to a single sportsbook and have a higher per player value (imo) - on a smaller house edge. Casino players are way more numerous, but more apt to jump around and tend to bet smaller amounts. Both are seasonal (slow in Northern summer) but sports I find to be more extreme highs and lows.

Sportsbook is a long hard slog if you are looking for faster money i would look at the casino side of the business, to get a serious good base of sports book player you would have to be very sharp on what you are offer and the partners that you are working with.

I'd have to agree that sports is a different animal all-together. Unlike the games of chance offered by casino, sports is a platform where people who know their stuff could really hurt your commissions. You need to have a steady base of players to even out the winners / losers ratio to keep your account in the black.

Also, many sportsbook affiliate programs (NOT CANBET), have negative carryover, so winning players can really hurt you.

From experience I have found sportsbetting to be far more protiable for affiliates in the long term. However if you are a newbie affiliate I would probably stick with casinos. Casinos require simplier sites than a sportsbook portal.

There are few factors to consider here;

- What are you familiar with, what do you personally know better? It would be very hard for somebody that has no clue about sports to start serious betting site, or vice versa; if you have no clue about poker or casino etc, stick to what you know. That makes your site more credible, if you talk about something you know, and people tend to take notice about what you have to say

- I would disagree with anybody saying 'faster money', there is nothing like fast money in gambling industry, at least for affiliate point of view. There is only hard work and good service to your visitors/members That goes to affiliates and providers alike!

- In long term, sportsbetting is more profitable business (that is only MO) for few reasons; it is ongoing process, live organism where people really interact and spend time on it; betting customer lifetime value is higher then the one of casino player; you can have a lot of players making you profit for years!
- Casino players come and go quickly and there are really minor chances that they will hit something, so sooner or later they drop it and do something else. it is a fact that casino can bring in a lot of cash, since it is chance game and players odds are minor, so they lose fast. They lose fast, they go away even faster.

- Once you have sports betting players base, your chances that some of them will also play at casino are quite big; I have noticed that many punters are playing games as well; softer version of casino, or in some smaller percent, they go to casino as well.

So what is the ideal scenario here?

- Big base of sports betting members; they lose/win/lose/win etc, as long as you have your 8-10% margin of the turnover, you are doing good. AND, you WANT your guys to win SOMETIMES, that will keep them playing.
- Sports bettor wins some money; he wants to try his luck at casino/games as well; and of course you get a piece of action there as well.

Do what you know the best, and do it good, that is my only advice.

As somebody has said what do you know about sports? Poker? casino?

Focus on what you know, until you have big base of players you will not make a huge amount you can not really control you sports book punters for example you might send all sure win punters which means your 8-10% will be more like 3-5% but if you send casino players you would stand a better chance of making money in teh short term.

I agree. It's got to be something you are interested in. If not, then it's going to be much harder and your life-style will suffer.

I have to echo what the majority has said here. Go with what you're most interested in, as results won't come easy (probably) to start with and you'll need to have a passion for generating content day in day out before you start seeing the rewards.

Looking at the bigger picture, more and more casinos are turning to sportsbooks to reduce acquisition costs and provide a bit more differentiation on their competition. At the same time, traditional sportsbooks are turning more and more to affiliates - in the past many were far more hesitant to strike deals as the information affiliates can carry will affect their margins, which isn't so much the case with casinos and poker rooms.

I would also say that it's easier to develop a niche as an affiliate in the sports betting world, and offering something different, that's still of value to a visitor, is crucial as an affiliate.

I'm noticing a significant rise in sportsbook conversation going on at the GPWA too, which is great, and other sportsbetting focused affiliate forums are also emerging as the vertical looks to become more and more mainstream.

But, it's entirely up to you.

When you focus on things you enjoy, the writing becomes easier, and you will feel less burned out even when writing on days you didn't feel like it.
