I can't imagine what was running through the poor guy's mind as he sat there trapped like that. Absolutely terrifying!!

That is just amazing group work!

If we only work in such a way more often, the world would be a better place.

think he was more embarrassed than anything else. he was spotted straight away so wasn't in any real danger

He maybe wasn't in real danger, but I don't think that is what you think in the moment. He probably was really scared.

Last month in Paris a man got stuck with his arm between the doors. He looked scared trying to pull himself out of it, as the metro starts driving quickly after the doors closed. I and another guy had to pull hard on each door to get him out of it. It gives a good feeling to help someone in trouble. He was very thankful that we helped him.
Does anyone know if there is some kind of safety that checks if all doors are completely closed? I didn't notice any delay before the metro started driving. Of course just one arm between the doors with the rubber doesn't take much space between the 2 doors.

    Hi Christiaan,

I hope you had a great Christmas!

I am not sure if there have a safety mechanism where if the doors are not completely shut the train won’t start. I have the feeling that if they do, they are not 100% sure if that works because for example in the UK most times you will see a person telling the driver that all is clear (maybe that is double security). One of my biggest fears when I used to ride the trains in the UK was the gap between the train and the platform; in some places the gap is really big and if you are not careful you can have an accident.

I was very impressed by the Aussies team work, because people can be very selfish and self-absorbed. Last year a lady was choking in the supermarket, her and her husband didn’t speak a word of English or Greek and there were really old. The husband was trying to hit her back in order to help her, but he wasn’t strong enough. To my surprise nobody cared, so I grabbed the lady from behind and I started to do the Heimlich maneuver while people were around us just looking. The lady started breathing and said thank you in Finnish I think. I was sooooo angry at the people around us, but it really felt great to help a complete stranger.

Thanks Maria, I had a great Christmas and New Year. How was yours?

You are correct, people don't help each other enough.
Sad thing is that criminals abuse this. They sometimes feign an emergency situation to rob people.
