    Default New Concept

    Hello Everybody,
For the last four to five years I have been running and developing a new concept that has proved to be very popular in my workplace. This is because you need no particular knowledge of the sport involved and their many ways to win money, we also manage to raise a good amount for charity.
Anyway, this has proved to be so popular that I need to do something with it and quick before it is 'pinched'! I contacted a number of betting organisations, Bet365 responded and stated that I needed to use their affiliates programme. Well, here I am and I have no idea what to do next, I gather that you (somehow) refer new customers and benefit accordingly. However if someone has a new gaming concept am I in the right place and what do I do next?
Any help and advice will be gratefully received, for the record I am not in the habit of wasting people's time, in my opinion this new concept has the potential to be massive! I look forward to hearing your views.

    Cheers, Stumpy.

If bet365 don't offer this concept then to market them as an affiliate is irrelevant.

The question is: how you expect to make money of this concept: To sell the idea or patent (have no idea if it's patent-able). To develop it with some big gaming house? etc.

I doubt you will earn money by just contacting an affiliate manager. You need to go much higher and with something ready. Also you should protect yourself from them just taking your idea and that's it.

Thank you for that MMM, I have sought advice on this and been told you cannot patent an idea. However, this is a working concept, a very successful one at that. I have been told that if I talk to anyone about it I should get them to sign a non-disclosure agreement. I feel I am throwing myself to the wolves to be honest. I appreciate your comments and I do get what you are saying, I just need to get my foot in the door and I'm off, I just need to find the right door?

That's for sure. I am not a lawyer and have no idea how it works, but probably here you should be extra careful since many operators are not located in 1st level jurisdictions, so to speak.

    Hi Stumpy,

Not to discredit your idea as I have no idea what it is but most ideas have already been thought of. That said I have plenty of new ideas daily but if they haven't already been done then it's a matter of why have they not been done already.

I have a lot of experience in getting new ideas of the ground so I could point you in the right direction, I will sign a non-disclosure agreement if that works for you.

    Cheers,
    Roo

It sounds as if you don't have :
    a/ webmaster experience
    b/ gambling affiliate experience
    c/ business setup experience

That makes it hard to take a concept that works well in your workplace (how online / real word?) and get it launched online effectively with any sort of scale - certainly given the initial post it seems unlikely that you will manage that effectively by yourself.

It's also tough to pitch an idea accurately to potential partners if you are not experienced in the field - and it sounds as if you've stumbled into the affiliate area after a discussion with bet365 without believing that this is actually the place you should be.

We market existing betting programs and make profits accordingly - so it is quite different from someone who wants to set-up "a new gaming concept" that involves taking money (for bets) and THAT probably involves some quite in-depth applications for licensing.

With such limited details available it's tough to give to any solid advice.

Are you able to share a little more about what it is - and whether you want to develop it yourself or license / sell the idea to others?
If you are looking to "own the idea" and license then the entire approach is different.

Thank you to everybody that read and responded to this post. You are all correct in what you say, Bet365 sent me here thinking this is where I would be able to take the concept further, I had my doubts initially and your comments have confirmed that I need to use another avenue of approach, thank you all again and good luck.

Having given this a lot of thought I think I just need to push ahead on my own, even if that means setting up my own website eventually! Thanks again to everyone that offered their advice, it is all very much appreciated.

Post your website here when you're up and running - I'd be fascinated to see what concept was so revolutionary that it needed to be kept ultra secret squirrel.
