How many websites do you actively operate?

We were thinking of starting a second affiliate website. It has got us wondering if it's worth it to have multiple websites or stick to having one website?
Any advice or pros and cons would be helpful.

When I started (a decade and change ago) I only had one site. But then it picked up a google penalty and it made me paranoid, so now we run far too many

Having a few sites never hurts but if you are small it is difficult to put the resources on everything. Sometimes it is better to be excellent or good at a few things than spreading yourself too thin and being "ok" on many sites. If you have the resources to handle more sites then certainly go for it.

Yep, it's always better to operate a couple of websites excellent, than to have a few more and don't have time for any.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head, Nenad. I only have a small number of websites that I'm currently operating and that's all I need to keep myself busy with. I don't want to have too many as I probably won't be able to manage all of them.

Like everyone else said, you have to have the time. It is better to focus on one site at a time. When you feel you are ready for a next one, go for it!
What I like to do though is to register the domain and put some basic content up just to age the domain a bit. It’s addictive though! ��

My opinion:
For SEO it's better to launch a few websites simultaneously and work with all for some time to see which one works better.

But of course it's require time, efforts and money.

So it depends on your budget, target market, team members and revenue from your live website.

If you found a good market and a specific niche go ahead and launch a new website and it could be successful. But if it is not something specific be prepare to work long and hard to get some profit.
