Default Has anybody noticed a lot of juni in the top 10 serps?

Since around November 9th there has been an up swing in junk sites.. Brand new sites with 1-10 pages, usually with the same domain taking up 2-3 positions in top ten.. Thinly written pages.. but there are literally hundreds of them.. I usually see this before a big update then everything adjusts itself

Who you calling junk? Haha. One of my sites has seen an immense boost during this time, in fact i just checked it's earlier in November about 2nd November-ish and then gradually more again on about 7th. Something's definitely happening, who knows, like you said could be that things come back to 'normal' again, they're supposed to be launching live penguin soon so buckle your seatbelts.

There's been a lot of very noticeable changes in the serps in the last week or two, often switching back and forth between two sets of results.

    Something is definitely going on...

Lol... Is it an old site? What i'm seeing is Brand new cookie cutter sites with nothing more than a table.. hundreds of them with quite a few taking 3 top positions with the same domain, Every time i spot this some type of update happens shortly after..

There's definitely something happening, I was checking some SERPs positions last week and, with cookies cleared each time, the results were changing materially literally every half an hour. Someone's twiddling with the dials at HQ...

You're right, hadn't noticed until you said that but yes, I'm seeing sitelinks right now that I demoted at least a year ago, probably nearer 2 years ago.

Seeing some serps that have pages from the same site in 8 out of the top ten results.

Yup usually all the turd floats up to the top before a major update... it's happened everytime.. espcially when you see one page sites with 1999 designs and 20,000 spammy backlinks out ranking authority sites..

Anyone care to let me in on what keyword(s) they're talking about? Maybe just PM me with one keyword you're happy to show an example of? I can't see anything that weird to be honest.

I will spread my reviews portfolio in multiple domains, one per review. Sounds funny

Ok So here is an example of some blatant obvious keywords which are no big secret.. some of the others are much worse.. Google is even adding popups asking how happy i am with the results.. so gives me a feeling they re testing something.

I don't see any real issue with the actual quality of the sites presented, believe me I've seen a LOT spammier than that ranking at number 1-3 in Google. When I do a search from here in the Uk there are no sites dominating 2-3 results as you showed. Interesting though, just wondering are the sites that came up with 2-3 results sites that you have vistied and clicked on before?

That was just an example of some generic keywords.. The others are much worse.. I have seen one site taking up the whole 1st page nearly.. Knocking all large authority sites off the front.. Those two are not a good example but of you do some searching you will come up with tons of spam sites many brand new.. There is definitely something going on this isn't normal serp behavior.. I use clean incognito browser every time have tried with various vpns

I wonder what the actual point of it all is, i.e. what is the process? Why do we have these times 'before a change' where the searches are a mess?

I'm interested to know the theories behind it or at least what people think is going on in these lead up times?

Are they playing around with it until they get it 'just right' (unlikely if spam crap is coming top) or is it some kind of filtering whereby what is coming top right now has been 'exposed' to be further analysed and then maybe sites like the ones currently top are the ones that will get punished?

I know one thing, I certainly never rely on Google to actually get these things right. There will always be spammy crap getting away with it.
