Thoughts on recovering affiliate prepayment

I have a question.
What can you do when An affiliate promises to promote you, we make advance payment and the affiliate does nothing to promote you?
All the money is gone for nothing. And threatens when asking for refund?
Please help.
I have skype chat as proof of payment and acknowledgement that affiliate received it.

Sadly a small few affiliates that make promises and never deliver make other affiliates appear to be trying to scam the programs if they in fact even mention the possibility of a pre-payment.

You should not have made a pre-payment without first having a contract with defined goals and objectives which needed to be met.

I have heard that some programs will do contracts in this manner and only release percentages of the funds once those stated goals are met.

Personally I only ever sign up and just promote properties through a straight revshare, although there have been times when a smal token pre-payment would have been nice to help cover my time and effort to get a new property some exposure, but based upon the history that many managers will state, these kinds of arrangement are less likely to occur.

My guess is a few may ring in here and provide ideas based upon their experiences.

Nothing at all? Then you were scammed. Did the "affiliate" even have a website?

Or do you mean that you did not get the level of players depositing that you expected?
Did you receive any :
- impression counts
- clicks
- registrations

What exactly was your expectation when pre-paying the affiliate?
What specific results were you looking for?

Andrews, how did you pay the affiliate? Depending on how you paid, you could look into contacting the processor due to not having goods delivered. I know PayPal recently updated their terms to include digital goods - so depending on your payment method, you may have some recourse if you were truly scammed.

That being said, years ago when I did not know any better and was rather new in the industry - I recall working with your group and neither the affiliate reporting platform nor the player support worked during this timeframe. Additionally, emails to support went unanswered and while my test account was able to sign up as a player, it did not get the free bonus that was advertised on the website. The test account even emailed support (numerous times) and it went unanswered. On an unrelated note, while that email account began receiving promotional offers to deposit and several different places.

With all that said, did the affiliate simply take the money and run or did he/she give you the exposure on the site or sites that he/she promised - and nothing came of the work?
