Seen a lot of movement across several verticals with this one and the core update.
It would be particularly interesting to hear from anyone that's managed to move a review from say the lower reaches of page 1 to one of the top 2 positions as a result of this.
"Google said the update is now rolling out for English-language pages. It will take about three weeks to complete." I wonder when to expect changes for other languages?![]()
I have actually seen more traffic from this, lets see hwo it goes
There's a new one of these rolling out if it affected any of you last time: https://twitter.com/googlesearchc/st...53197515661312
Today we released the February 2023 product reviews update, which applies to these languages globally: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Russian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish. It'll take ~2 weeks to fully roll out.

It's interesting reading some of the replies to that tweet I quoted, lots of people shouting about the quality of the SERPs much the same as the comments on here. Fingers in the ears job from Google!

I noticed a very good site lose 50% of their traffic in the last 2 days not sure why as they are way better than those indian new media reviews which have now overtaken other sponosred posts. I think bing will be able to clean up if they can pip google to the post and launch AI quickly
Initial update losers sometimes recover when the rollout is complete, or even in the weeks after.
Agree about the review spam, though I think a lot of it comes down to a site's inbound links (authority) as well.
Some of the advanced PBNs and content farms pump their network full of links from repurposed high authority expired domains. Then they build a web about 2-3 layers deep that eventually dumps to their money site. It looks innocent enough until you really dig in.
Sometimes I honestly think Google is less capable than they purport to be, and still ultimately rely on backlinks as their primary signal, even if they've turned up the knobs on page performance and content quality in recent years.
I could not agree more on this. Backlinks is THE most important ranking factor from what I've seen. Nothing gives you more boost than a well built PBN content machine. I think that if Google really cared, they would have cracked down these PBN's, as they are very easy to spot. With all the tech they have, AI and stuff.. But they really don't care that much.
some sites from our pool have improved their positions, but the other part continues to lose them. The approach is identical, the niches are similar ... sometimes it seems to me that Google randomly throws sites out of the search results
