Default Looks like an Athlon to me

    http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/oddnews/...3100.html?vp=1

This story has made the ropunds a few times, and I recall reading it before when it first hit.

Well today Yahoo had re-run the story (they do this frequently) but today I noticed something I had not before.

Any idea what he has in his left hand?

Looks like the underside of an Athlon to me....of the socket 462 variety....lol I doubt it is an XP, since it appears to be ceramic and not fibre.

Well it appears perfectly square, which socket 462 cpu's are.

I have even cut out the image and tried making it larger, and it continues to look like a cpu up until the point it pixelates and is no longer distinguishable...lol

Side note: By the way, I almost always catch things that look like old cpu's since I try and keep up with items with high gold content in them. Did you know that a Pentium Pro has approximately .9 of a gram of gold in it?

Could be a box of matches as he appears to have a cigarette in his other hand.

Snap he is talking about his left hand. Indeed it does look like a brown Ahtlon with them gold color pins on the side. I personally had 3 of those, managed to burn all 3 of them :P Could be a Sempron as well.

I do sell them on eBay occassionally.

I also sell some of the old cyrix and pentium pros for gold reclamation when I have enough of them.

It just isn't worth a big time investment if I only have a few.

I think it can definitely be confirmed that I am a geek, not a nerd.

Now I'm going to run off to tell our IT guys because they don't believe me.
