Default Request for Site review of my first Bingo site - much appreciated

I am new to gaming promotion, web design, seo, and programming but I've been hard at work on my FIRST bingo site (first site of anykind actually.) Here's what I've got to date:

    YoureInLuckNow.com

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Rob

I think it's a great start, especially for a first site, but I have a few questions. What keywords are you targeting? It's hard to tell. Also not sure why you decided to write BINGO in all-caps inconsistently. And it's kind of insignificant, but I would still change your default Joomla favicon.ico to something custom or at least bingo-relevant.

Otherwise I actually think it's pretty strong. If you are at all interested in promoting BingoHouse (as you can see, I'm the AM there) check out the links in my signature - would love to hear from you. Good luck!

Arrow Thanks for your bingo site feedback

    Thanks for your feedback.
I'm glad you noticed that BINGO is in all-caps inconsistently. I started with all "bingos" being in All-Caps (for some dumb reason) then changed my mind so I have to go through and correct every page. I may finish it today yet.

I wanted to change the favicon.ico but I didn't even know what it was called...lol
I'll look up how to change it.

My keyword targets include Canadian, US & Australian bingo, best us. cnd. aust. bingo,
bingo reviews, bingo tips, and secrets and the like.
    Any suggestions?

I think I'll be shifting the focus to tips and secrets as this will be a content heavy site. I have another 2 dozen articles ready to post over the next two months and I've also just started submitting articles to directories.

Thanks again for the feedback and I'll check out Bingo House in the near future,

    Cheers,

    Rob

I think you should have some bingo related images on your main page. It's hard to tell it's a bingo guide site with what you've got currently until you start reading it. Either that or feature some bingo sites on the main page would be good.

Here's a site to add the favicon: http://favicon.htmlkit.com/favicon/ posted by one of the guys here a while back.

    Thank you Zoranna,

I was thinking I needed some bingo Images on the main page too. I might incorporate one into the header as well.

Thanks for the link to favicon. I'll check it out. I'll be adding links to reviews and small banners on the main page - maybe today.

Thanks for the input - I really appreciate and need it.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Don't mention it Rob, happy to help. I see that you've added a couple of images on the header

Nice Start. Need to spruce up the landing main page a bit. Right now looking a bit bland. The text on the logo 'hottest' is a bit blurry. Site loads a bit slow. You might want to bring the tabs below the top header image so it's easier for the player to navigate. That my 2 cents.

Great work so far! Keep it up!

In terms of revenue, seems a shame to neglect the UK, probably the biggest bingo market where players can play without restrictions like those USA and Australian players face. The banner is too big as well imo. You lose a lot of page real estate with big banners like that. Whilst designers and Web 2.0 pundits might think it looks good, those more interested in getting users to the content and important bits of the site would disagree. Don't believe me? Go to Amazon and tell me how much space their banner takes up.

With the UIGEA you haven't got much choice for USA affiliate programmes that promote decent bingo sites that aren't in danger of having their URLs seized for targeting US players. You also haven't got any featured brand on your sites in a clickable position. One or two strategically placed banners and more text links to the affiliated sites will help you to drive traffic where it converts. At the moment, the home page has no affiliate links except to a hosting company. How many bingo players are likely to click that? Don't go mad and put too much on the homepage mind, as many others do. Keep it simple and elegant, and you could do well with it.

Thanks for your 2 cents Catherine.
I'll definitely spruce up the landing page. I'll be adding feature site banners and links. The text being blurry is because I have limited resources so the entire header was done by adding text with "Paint." I'll work on finding a "crisper" text option.

Again this is all new to me so I'll try to improve the loading speed somehow too.

So MUCH to learn! Thanks again.

    Thanks for the comments Dave.
You make great points about neglecting the UK market. I will seriously reconsider my US/Can/Aus position. Hmmm...? I can't think of any reasons to completely exlude the UK.....
I've taken your advice and made the header smaller and I may make it smaller yet as I have some other header edits to make as well. I was pondering how to get more "above the fold" and this will help.
I'll be reducing the "blurb" on the landing page as well so I can put a couple banners and links in.

    Thanks again Dave.

Thanks to everyone who's responded so far. This is an exciting venture and the work never seems to end....

I have a question for everyone...How do you like the name? You're In Luck Now ??

I avoided the term "bingo" in the name (maybe that was bad) but I was thinking about branding, and possibly keeping a door open to other gambling promotions. I also thought it sounded positive and a little upbeat.

Agree that you need more images that show visitors its about bingo.
Site loads pretty quick and has a logical navigation to follow which is good.

My questions stem about wanting more info about your avatar...I have a friend that lives nearby that has a few tigers so I am always interested....lol but don't wanna sidetrack the thread...lol

    Thanks Rick.
I hope to have the Landing page improved today - although I'm sure I'll be tweeking it for I while.
I'm happy the navigation seems logical - i tried hard to do that.

As for the avatar, it's a screen cap from an online slot called Gladiator at Amigo Bingo.

    Cheers and thanks again.

Default Several changes made and thank you again for all your comments

Thanks again to everyone who commented on my new bingo site at www.youreinlucknow.com

I have made several changes based on everyone's advice and have several more to make in the near future (as time and technical know-how allow.)

I will be including UK sites in the near future but I have to spend a bit of time researching them (there are so many!)

Anyway, thanks to you, my site is looking a lot better and should reduce my bounce rate and hopefully lead to some conversions.

    Best,

    Rob
