    Default Problem in libre office

I am facing problem in libre office. I have save the draft of libre excel file in my gmail from linux and when opening it in windows 7 or 8 or xp then it shows the file in corrupted format. It also shows the error- The file you are trying to open "example.xls" is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Has anyone arrived at this problem. Please help as whole of my data is lost. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

When saving from one format and expecting to open in another application, you need to do a "save as" and choose a format to save that is a closer fit to the application you will be opening it in.
