overwriting affiliate codes

I understand that Morpheus, Hotbar, Bearshare and Gator overwrite affiliate codes and hijack your players. They even overwrite affiliate codes of established players of yours that have been playing at one of your casinos for a while!

I think this is a very serious problem.

I am unforunately not much of a tech person, much less good with programming. But if someone would write some sort of firewall type program, protecting your website from these thieves, I would surely buy it!

I used Gator myself and just recently got rid of it and replaced it with roboform. My computer is running 1/3 faster as a result! It is very difficult to get rid of gator completely. I have scoured my computer for hours and kept finding files. And I still get the occasional popup - always casinos. It is so very annoying.

I am considering publishing something on my site about those programs. People have no idea that these utilities steal from the sites they frequent and support.

Since switching to roboform I haven't looked back!

A lot of programs that are freeware install secondary spyware programs that produce popup ads and track your surfing habits. On the webmasters tools page at www.gpwa.org you will find a tool called Ad Aware which is a free spyware removal program. I suggest downloading and running it.

When I first came across it and ran for the first time i had no less than 15 different spyware programs detected.

It is now a weekly ritual.

I couldn't agree more! Gator is awful and should be avoided at all cost!!
