I'd add one major
SEO mistake: spending too much time on
SEO and almost no time on good valuable quality content.
Tbh, as this appears to be a guest post, didn't find much that we don't already know.
I was about to write the exactly same sentences.
I can not help myself to think that the only reason of this post is ... SEO of techworld and one nice backlink I hope it is not.
The article definitely is not a quality content about SEO. When I read about "mobile content" or "200 signals" for 200x in my life I always feel like reading B-class magazine how to deliver 200 orgasms to some woman, 200 countries I Must Visit Before I Die or 200 recipes for food made of Lindt (TM) chocolate. It is not just boring. It also reveals that the marketers themselves are the fishes on the hook here. The articles have only the value of the ads around it. It is SEO-porn. Honestly what sense is hidden in reading the same texts over and over again.
Back in late 80's we were watching with friends Rambo and Rocky series on horrible VHS-cassettes over and over again. I hated it, but stil did it, because everyone was doing that. Yeah, now comes the scene with the rock and helicopter... Here comes the 200 signals... Consuming the SEO-porn is maybe good for creating a self-confidence that one understands the liquid reality of the internet, because we know what will be the "new information", so we are not surprised, so we are the gods, but it is not good for making money. There are for sure many millions of SEO gurus around, the problem is that there are much less projects that make significant money.
If one needs to know what is going on in SEO, I suggest just signup at https://moz.com/, I think they send monthly newsletter for free. There are always like 10 articles, always well chosen from other websites. You will for sure read there about 200 signals immediately when Google publishes it - not after 10 years, when it will be an obsolete info. For me it helps me to stay focused on what the masses are doing and think about it and then I can invent something new sometimes. But that is all. No need to recycle to same content over and over.
