Today I was adding some fresh banners to my ad-server and had a thought when I looked at the new 32Red Robin hood video Slot 250x250 banner. What caught my eye was the capitalised "PLAY THIS SLOT AT 32RED.COM" (I am not singling out 32Red I am merely using them as an example).
Now there are a few reasons why I mask my affiliate urls, namely; to prevent them from being too spammy and of course to stop a visitor to my site from copying and pasting the URL to their browser, removing the affiliate part of the URL which causes me to lose my commission (these aren't the only reasons my URL's are masked - I also like to track my clicks).
Now the question I'd like to ask is; could a visitor to my site see the bold capitalised URL and simply type the url into their browser costing me my commission?
I'd like to hear your feedback concerning this.
Thanks!
Max, (I'm Cass's business associate)
