Australia Day Celebrations include $500 GTD Tournament and Increased Prize Pool for Sunday Sundowner

January 22, 2018 — St. Johns, Antigua (Press Release) – Intertops Poker is putting $500 on the table for their Australia Day poker tournament and they’re adding another $500 to the pot for their Sunday Sundowner this weekend – now $4000 GTD.

Every 26th January Australians come together to celebrate their national day, reflecting the nation's diversity and achievements, its past and future. While there’s been some talk of changing the date, it’s still celebrated on the day the British first raised the flag of Britain in Sydney Cove. There are community events and citizenship ceremonies all over the country and, as it’s the middle of summer Down Under, there are loads of shrimps on the barbie and lots of lager is consumed.

On Australia Day, Intertops Poker is hosting a $500 GTD poker tournament scheduled for the convenience of Australian players:

Australia Day $500 GTD
Friday, January 26^th, 8pm AEST
(EST: 4am / CET: 10am)
Tickets: $5+$0.50 (buy-in + fee)

Also this week, the Horizon Poker Network poker room is increasing the prize money for their Sunday Sundowner tournament. Again. On Sunday, January 28^th players will be competing for $4000.

“I wish I had a crystal ball to predict which tournaments would really take off,” said Intertops’ poker manager. “The Sunday Sundowners have been really, really popular so we’re happy to keep increasing the guaranteed.”

Intertops Poker is known all over the world for its busy poker room. They also offer a selection of casino games from Betsoft, Worldmatch and Lucktap.

Wait what?

Intertops just pulled out of the Australian market and no longer allows new sign ups from Australia. I'm not sure about Juicy Stakes.

Still, it seems quite odd to run Aussie themed tournaments when not allowing new AU players...

Hi,

yes, we pulled out of the Australian market but that doesn't mean that we cannot run Aussie themed tournaments. We try to celebrate as many different days as possible every year! When celebrate/hightlight these days we usually guarantee money or other give aways which in the end is good for all the players that are allowed to play with us.

Best regards,

Intertops Poker Manager

Hi,

yes we pulled out of the Australian market and we do not accept Australian sign-ups but that doesn't mean that we cannot have Australian themed promotions, celebrating one of their big days. We try to celebrate many different public holidays around the world and when doing so we guarantee a bit more money in the tournaments than we usually do. This is just positive for the players that can play those tournaments.
