This is the video that touched me the most. You won't be able to see all the firemen break down and cry, but they were. They are only men, and heroes. It's more than tragic. There simply are no words.

Drying my tears only to cry again.

    We will never forget.

    It's been 10 years now.

We remember these things. Where were you when this happened?

It's strange, but I didn't even know that it happened until the next day when I was at work. I would usually show-up about 30 minutes early so I could have a cigarette, listen to the radio and kind of wind in to my day. It was on every station. I couldn't believe it at first.

To this day, it's really hard for me to watch any of the memorials on TV because it is too overwhelming.

    Thanks for the great thread.

I was wondering if someone would post something..

I remember I was at school and it was a couple of weeks before my HSC exams started and we sat in the language room the entire day just watching it on tv and crying.

The worst part was watching the people who had no choice but to jump out of the windows. The memory of that always brings tears to my eyes.

I was at the library in college, everybody was standing in front of tv and in that moment the second airplane crashed.

I was at work as an office manager and there was a bunch of us crowded around the tv, just crying. We saw the 2nd tower fall.

I agree Renee. That was horrific. Just regular people who went to work that day. Something that is forever embedded in our memory.

I was 17 years old and I was in Virginia in a one year exchange program and I had only been there for a couple of weeks! It was pretty shocking... I remember I was in my Sports Medicine class when it happened! My parents were thinking about canceling the program and bringing me back home but we decided no to!

I still remember the day as clearly as when it happened. I was working at a bank at the time and I happened to be walking past one of my work colleagues offices and I saw that she had her tv on, so I went in to tease her about watching tv during work, and as I walked in, the 1st plane had just gone into the tower, and we assumed it was a light aircraft/cessna type of plane, so didn't think too much of it..until the 2nd plane hit.

The whole company was then squeezed into the boardroom watching the tv when the towers fell, and I remember there was dead silence - you could have heard a pin drop. Nobody could believe what they were seeing and everyone just had their hands over their mouths ( its amazing how people do that when they are in shock ) and they just kept shaking their heads in disbelief.

It was even more real to me because my husband was a fireman at the time and ironically we were planning on moving from South Africa to the states and my husband had applied for a position with the New York Fire Department and the Auckland, NZ Fire Department and as it turns out - he got the position in NZ, so we landed up going there instead of NY.

I shudder to think what could have happened to him had he been with the New York Fire department.

I was still living at home, and I got in to find everyone glued to the TV.

I remember thinking this was the start of a war, I suppose it was in a way, but at the time I was thinking there would be more attacks.

I watched the memorial services on Sunday, they were very moving.

I can understand the incredible pain and anger caused, but I don't think the reaction was handled very well by the governments involved. I support the troops, but not the wars.

I was ten and at school. Had no particular idea what was going on, but everyone kept talking about it, even us, 10year old kids. It was something terrible, no-one would ever forget!

Prayers to all those who witnessed the tragedy.

I was playing with my 6 month old daughter and watching CNBC, when Mark Haines came on and said "a plane has apparently crashed into the world trade center". He and I both said the same thing when the video feed came up: "That's no accident".

the 2 things i remember being grateful of was 1) my daughter at 6 months had no idea that anything was happening and 2) that after bit CNBC stopped showing the people who were jumping from windows.
