    Default Straight from Mother Google

I have a long time friend who works for IBM and he put me in touch....directly....with an SEO adviser from Google today. (names withheld for obvious reasons)

Here are just a few comments in my hour long conversation with him.

"Gambling portal owners should not host multiple sites on virtual servers with the same IP address but the same IP provider using separate servers (ie IP addresses) will NOT hurt your rankings."

"Owning multiple web sites using the same owner in WHOIS is not a ranking factor, it is considered a normal business practice."

"As gambling sites are very similar, similar content is not as much as of an issue as mirror sites are although it may become an issue using affiliate "cloned" pages."

"Cross linking of similar sites has the same effect as a good back-link as long as its not black hat. Hidden text, meta spam, etc"

I m certainly not an expert on the SEO subject but I have intensely studied it for about three months now. I have two web sites up. (and more on the way....SOON) The longest one has been up for only 6-8 weeks now and I already have three pages ranked in the top 40, 21 of 76 pages indexed and traffic on the rise so I guess I'm doing something right.

There is a definite conflict if interest going on in this and other gambling forums by affiliate managers who own multiple web sites. Since their pages are ranked high on the search engine, they are naturally reluctant to give out the REAL information a newbie needs to get their site cranked up.

In my dealings with affiliate managers who are company employees and not portal owners, I have found that they are more inclined to help you and offer sound advise to actually improve your standings. An affiliate manager with a top rated web site is not going to tell you how to knock him/her off.

    Newbies beware!

There is way too much BS flyin' around here...........

Look out the train is a comin'............................................ ...

affiliate managers generally know jack-**** about SEO... the ones who do turn into your rivals before you can say "great content".

I suggest not worrying about such people, or conflict of interests.. you should just do some reverse engineering on the sites that are where you wish to be, and you will learn everything you need to know to get there, otherwise hit the SEO forums. people don't keep as much of the magic sauce to themselves as you might think.

    Edited:
I've heard some horror stories about affiliate managers who have retro engineered affiliate's sites and then quite being affiliate managers and started their own portals.

I guy that I know and respect named Andy has the live-roulette-tv.com site and has dominated the "live roulette" niche for years was victum of an affiliate manager who did something similar. I'll let him mention more about it if he chooses.

On the other side of the coin there are affiliate managers who sincerely wish to help.

    Default Clarification Live Casino Partners

The statements I have made are of no reference to Live Casino Partners. Adrian has spent considerable time with me and I appreciate everything he has done and I am featuring LLC on a specialized web site coming out soon.

If we discussed similar topics it was purely coincidence

There are others that have given me advice that is completely contrary to what I learn from reliable sources. It ticks me off!

Before you give advice please check to make sure the source is reliable. Google is accesible and they are very helpful.

There is too much conjecture and just straight out BS coming from people who apparently don't know Jack S**t.

Am I the only one that doesn't understand exactly what the point of this thread is? The first half is some interesting insight from a supposed "Google Insider"... then it goes off on a tangent to lay in to Aff Managers who run their own portals?

P.S. Affiliate Managers aren't there to tell you how to get your site ranking higher in Google.

As Paul mentioned this is defiantly not the best forum to learn about SEO although it is very helpful to find contacts to collaborate with (link, content, article exchange, etc.).

As in all forums (even in the best SEO forums) there are always people that like to give recommendations even though they don’t really dominate the subject. The good thing about the SEO forums is that there is nearly always an administrator or some long time members that clears things up (whereas in this forum there is no guarantee that even the long time members are experts on SEO)

Although there might be a few people that give bad advice to try to take out their future competition in generally I think that it is out of ignorance.

I am far from being and expert on SEO and the comment about Google may be true, but what works for some but not for others has been rehashed again and again along with what google likes and does not like. Try doing some searches for online casinos and some of the stuff that is highly ranked... well you just wonder how it got there.

I think SEO is no different than any other business, take things slow try to be unique and give users/players what they want which is hard, especially in the casino industry so much is redundant and more of the same.

I own several sites a couple are not casino related and are on the same IP and rank really well, I kind of try to stay away from a lot of what I see the experts say will help rankings, you can get so caught up with it and not accomplish your goals.

A lot of SEO is just common sense anyway really. You just need to think "what would a Google engineer say if they did a manual review" (which is what will probably happen one day if you achieve good rankings anyway) and I'd guess that will probably give you a pretty good guideline as to what you should and shouldn't be doing. Although I don't doubt there are oddities, mainly caused by the fact that search engine technology is still in it's infancy.

Some of what this person said make perfect sense and seems to confirm so of my experiences with owning sites, traffic, serps, and PR.

What gets me about all the supposed seo guru's that post on seo forums is that most of the advice they give is based on anecdotal evidence and thereby can't be trusted as authoritative.

I run a service that flies in the face of what most SEO guru's will tell you but I have members who experience great results and I have users who don't.

Invariably when I examine the content of the users who try and blame their lack of results on my service end up having written pure dribble for content.

Google will reward you nicely if you always try and keep Google's user in mind when creating your site and its content. This is an immutable Google truth and one of their founding principals.

If you have GREAT content that serves your users something of value Google can overlook a lot of other potential mistakes a web master has made.

I have a question and i hope someone may be able to answer it. I have seen it said by many people that you should not cross link sites on the same IP, but I own some sites in another niche and have noticed it does not seem to be doing them any harm - in fact far from it.

I know with the popularity of shared hosting services, some people have suggested that google have relaxed the rules on links from the same IP - does anyone have any comments or experience with this?

My own opinion is that it's just common sense application. If you link in moderation and where relevant to the users then it stands to reason that Google will like that, but if you just go banging up lots of largely irrelevant links in footers and stuff then they will probably ignore them.

I'm not sure Google has relaxed the rules because it's logical that if anything, they would be wanting to devalue linking factors for the simple reason it can be manipulated and that means the search user won't see the best results.

hope you do as the more the merrier and all that. One thing is was going to say to you is dont expect anything from your rankings straight away. There is a chance you maybe in the google sandbox and you'll stay on page 40 odd for maybe 2 months or more. then just like magic fly up 20/30 pages when you are set free from it, even straight to page 1 if you have good seo.

    good luck

I am going to iterate this again.

Build good content on your sites first!

Why on earth would any one link to your site if you have ****** content or even no content at all?

    Content first
    Back links second

    Default Casino Back links

RHayes has posted his upcoming site and to me it is very interesting system. I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this type of website where you post your own articles that link back to your site. I appreciate the turn on Rhayes. I am looking for some feed back on your system from others. I am relatively new at this game and this is the first time I have head of this type of back link strategy.

    Thank you
