Default Academic researcher looking to purchase advertising space on gambling portals

    Hello,

I am an academic researcher, and I am new to this site. I'm currently working on a large-scale study of Internet gambling, and I am trying to recruit about 5000 participants to complete an online survey. I would like to purchase advertising space on prominent gambling portals. Essentially, what I would like is a banner ad, that would link interested parties to my survey. I am also open to any other suggestions about recruting (e.g. mass emailings, ads in e-news letters). I already have funding in place for this stage of the study, and I am hoping to begin advertising later this winter. Ideally, the ads will run for about 8 months.

If you have advertising space for sale on your portal, or if you have other advertising suggestions for me, then please message me and I will be in touch.

    Thanks!

    TheProfessor

P.S. My apologies to the admins if this is the wrong sub-forum to post this message. I wasn't sure which one was best, so I just went for the general "chatter box."

Hi - a couple of questions....

    1. Who is this study for?

    2. Who's funding it?

    3. Can we see this survey before discussing anything?

    4. Where will the final report be published?

The study is not commissioned by anybody. I am a tenured professor, at a Canadian university, and so the study is simply part of my own research program (which I direct myself). I've been studying various social-cultural aspects of gambling for about 6 years now.

The study is funded by the Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre, which is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is a government funded agency which provides non-directed funding (i.e. the government has no say or control over what I research or what I publish) for academic researchers.

Yes, it would be no problem for anyone to view the survey. It is currently in the final stages of completion, and is being translated into different languages. The survey is designed to assess online gamblers' demographic characteristics, betting practices, game preferences, understanding of the true odds associated with various games, and the extent to which they gamble responsibly or problematically. It is an academic study, and is not directed by the industry, government, or any political agenda. The goal is simply to collect some methdologically sound data about the experiences, perceptions, and behaviors of online gamblers. Survey participation will be strictly voluntary and anonymous.

The final research report will be available to the public on the website of the Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre. Results will also be published in peer-reviewed academic journals.

    Thanks
