Advice/suggestions needed. Has this happened to you?

Hello everyone,


I am only a small affiliate and relatively inexperienced. I was hoping to tap into your knowledge and acquire some advice and suggestions regarding an incident which has happened on my site recently.


I had an email a few days back from a site visitor who claimed he had signed up to one of the bookmakers on my site. I won't mention the bookmaker as it is not important. Within his email he said that he had seen the offer on my site, signed up to the bookmaker, completed the wagering requirements but did not receive the free bet that was detailed on my site. He contacted the bookmaker customer service only to be told that the offer had expired. He then contacted me to inform me of his experience.

In my reply I stated the following:


1. The offers on my site are checked numerous times throughout the year and include a last verified date. The date I last checked the offer for this particular bookmaker was in early January 2016. I explained that most bookmakers contact the site owner to warn that a welcome offer is no longer available. In this instance, I did not receive anything from the bookmaker. I also stated that the banners are hosted by the bookmaker and normally they update them when an offer changes/is removed.


2. His experience had highlighted the need for me to check offers on a more regular basis and that I would make necessary changes to ensure that this did not happen to other site vistors


3. If he had signed up to the bookmaker through one of my links, for which I am credited, then I might be able to offer him a slight compensation as a gesture of goodwill. I asked him to provide the username that he used to sign up so that I could track him within the bookmaker reporting system.


4. He should always ensure that he read bookmaker's terms and conditions to verify an offer is still available

He then replied with this username information. He also stated within his contact that I was still advertising the offer. I might have misread his tone but I didn't like it. Also, in his first email, he used the phrase "what a con!". I cannot be sure whether it was my site or the bookmaker that he was referring to.

I replied with the following


1. It seems that his registration had not been credited to me. I explained that this can happen for a number of reasons.
2. As I had not been credited with his registration then the goodwill gesture would no longer apply.
3. I would still feature the bookmaker bonus on my site, for archive purposes, but there are numerous instances in bold that detail the offer is no longer available.

He has now come back to me saying if the information is incorrect why am I advertising it. He has stated that he is going to talk to trading standards and the gaming commission to get their view on it.

I have not replied to his last contact. Should I be worried? Has anyone experience anything like this themselves? Will either of the two bodies he mentioned do anything?


On a final note, there is a terms and conditions section within my site that, in short, states the following:


- I will try to keep the site information as up-to-date and as accurate as possible although we are not responsible the site's content accuracy
- Players must read partner's terms and conditions before depositing and wagering any money

don't worry about it, it's his fault for not reading the terms and conditions on the bookies site, especially as he didn't sign up through you
