    Default Adwords for casinos

In the UK you can use Google Adwords to promote online casinos and portals. I can only see one portal that is currently using them though, is it because it is unprofitable due to the cpc? I'm assuming the portal that does use them, casinochoice, is only using them to consolidate its position as they are already well ranked organically.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone with Adwords experience using casino portals. Cheers.

    Hi Owldeath

There are many more affiliates doing PPC (not sure on the exact numbers). In recent months Google Adwords have been cracking down on landing pages for gaming affiliates. If Google feels that the landing page offers the traffic no value (ie sending traffic directly onto the operator) they are changing quality scores from 7-10 to one and your campaigns will not show.

I know a few affiliates that were affected by this in recent times and some affiliates that were penalised have had their quality scores reinstated.

    Hi,

I am interested if anyone else has had success or experience using Google Adwords as a mechanism to drive traffic to their site. I read this post with great interest as i was about to embark on a PPC campaign.

    Kind regards

I would love to hear from any affiliates who've had success using this method of advertising. Adwords is a huge industry, and of course, the UK is a great market.

Are there any special requirements to advertise portals on adwords? I have a free £75 voucher so I might give it a go. Do you need a gambling licence?

No license is required you first need to create an adwords account and then apply to be white listed for Google.

If you need assistance just drop me an email, I am happy to help.

Default I'm holding off for now

I have heard the same that Google is not being portal friendly when it comes to ppc and adword campaigns. I'm in wait and see mode on that one right now.

    Excellent baldidiot!

Feel free to chat I have been running Adwords gaming campaigns for clients on Google for over a year and half. I have had successes and failures with campaigns and keywords. Be prepared to test to find out what keywords work out for your site.

I've used adwords as both an affiliate and as an operator. I'll tell you my experience.

If you are planing to use adwords for your affiliate portal then you might as well forget about it. I used incomeaccess access for adwords because they offer the service of helping you qualify. They did a great job, and the reason why it was not a successful campaign was not because of them. I sent these adwords campaigns to an existing portal with relevant content that performs well in the SERPs. I decided to use this site because Google's quality score should have been higher due to the fact that this site was extremely relevant for my targeted keywords. I set up campaigns and targeted keyword phrases. The bid price for almost all of them was about £22 per click. For an affiliate site, that converts to industry ball park standards the player acquisition cost was calculated to be about £2000 per player. I spent about £3000 before deciding that as an affiliate adwords was not cost effective. Keep in mind that I'm not an adwords genius and could have done better, but not by a factor that would have made it worth while.

It's in Googles favor to open the bidding to affiliates because it drives the prices up to where it is unreasonable and certainly not cost effective.

Now, as an operator Adwords serves as a branding tool as well as acquiring direct players. You are going to get better traffic conversions as an operator. Even then the player acquisition costs are so high that we would be losing money to advertise with adwords in hopes of getting direct type ins and as a branding exercise. I think on a large scale with an enormous budget adwords is effective, but not on a scale that most privately owned casinos could deem as affordable.

Things could change, but that's my recent experience with adwords.
