I have been a member for around 2 months now and have sent around 50 PM's back-and-forth but all of the sudden I can't reply to a new PM because of this rule. Shouldn't it only be for new members?

Hi IC IC,
The reason the rule did not apply to you previously is because it is based on a recently-installed anti-spam modification, which is why it appeared not to impact new members but impact longer-term members.
The reason for implementing this is to help prevent unsolicited mass PMing, which we've seen both from new accounts doing it immediately and also from older accounts that were dormant for some time before beginning the mass unsolicited messaging.
We've also implemented a corresponding minimum post requirement before members may include a URLs, images or emails in their posts.
Yours,
Steven

Steven,
I'm glad to hear you guys are taking measure to reduce spam. I've been experimenting with a forum based article exchange site. I spend at least 15 minutes a day deleting spam posts. After a year of it, I've decided to shut down the forum. It's just not worth the hassle.
I think what is really going to help is the minimum posting for placing a url. Some time ago I remeber seeing a post now and then off topic, and slightly suspicious.. with a solid url in the sig.
Super upgrade Steven! Thanks for helping keep the rif-raf down!

Good to see the amount of spam is being cracked down on before we start to get a deluge. This forum is one of the cleanest I've seen and any pro-active move to keep it that way are appreciated.
Agree that this and the other Aff forum is quite spam free. All the mass mailers try to avoid the people in here I reckon since they could actually revenge it![]()
Doolally, how in the world did you come up with that name? All of the sudden makes Gnuf.com sound like the perfect name for a gambling site![]()
