Default Affiliate Managers: Stop the Sales Pitches

I won't mention any names, because i've found this universal. If you're an affiliate manager and i tell ask about a platform, say Mobile on a Blackberry, why the heck are you telling me about games, features, languages, etc. that only run on other mobile platforms. I understand you want people to know what you've got, that is supposed to happen at the start. When i ask what can you do for Blackberry, listing features that are only available on other platforms makes me assume that one of the following is true:

    1. You don't know what your talking about or what i'm asking for. So i get the sales pitch.

    or

    2. You're hoping to confuse me with a bait and switch, in hopes that i won't notice that you have me promoting a brand/game that won't work for my customers.

either way it's not very helpful and it certainly doesn't make me want to give you space that is going to another program.

lol, I got an email last week to join this program because they LOVED my site and it was so easy to navigate. They would LOVE to be on my site. I suggested to click the advertising pop up and spend the $100 for a years placement. They didn't LOVE my site that much.

Sale pitches are over done my so many programs and its a shame that its more like telemarketing then them actually caring about working with you.

For affiliate managers to recruit new affiliate webmasters they do go out and contact you through emails and messages as this is the best method to make first contact. However although I and others do fall in this trap when recruiting webmasters it is important to send 'relevant' information which I believe is what AmCan is referring to.

It is important for the affiliate manager to address the specific questions raised by the affiliate and then at the end of the email explaining additional products and features I personally believe is ok. Like affiliates, affiliate managers do have a hard job and the majority of affiliate managers act in an ethical manner when dealing with affiliates and try to provide the most relevant material and answers to the affiliates but sometimes things slip through the crack.
