Has anyone got any experience targeting any African markets at all?
Is there a demand for much? especially sports betting? do many firms accept players from African countries?
Any info would be appreciated

There is plenty of demand for football betting in Africa, but lack of finances and payment mechanisms mean the market is fairly low rent. So you get good traffic, but not many deposits.
Personally I'd be worried about fraud if I got a lot of Nigerian players suddenly signing up - but that just a prejudice based on the content of most of the email I receive from that area. I HAVE seen a couple of Nigerian players at MyBet - but only for couple of euros each.
South Africa is a viable market with good access to credit cards and a good percentage of the white population having disposable cash. But you'll need to have content to match - rugby and cricket.
Super weird coincidence - I was coming on to post the same question (had a few emails from people in various african countries with questions).
Gooner makes good point, probably high volume and low value. I've had a bunch of sign ups at various places from people in Nigeria etc.. but conversion rate has been very low (although I haven't looked too much into if that's because they can't deposit or whatever).
I've had a quick search around and it looks like there are a bunch of Nigerian facing bookies, so there must be some kind of value to be had. But that's about the extent of my research so far...
onlinegamblingwebsites.com - Formally known as goodbonusguide.
Gambling Domains: Small clear out of some of the domains we've been hoarding - see the spreadsheet here.
Yep I've noticed I get some small amounts of traffic from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Tunisia and India. Can't say I've ever had a signup from those places though that I've noticed.
Targeting the online casino players from African market for OCR was not a huge success because most of the big firms are not accepting players from many African countries but we did attract some high value players from South Africa specifically.
About the sports the story is a bit different, sport is much more popular, the best sports I would target are for African audience are :
Rugby, Cricket & of course Football !
Sportingbet as much as i know accepting south African players
Bet365 for sure accept sports players and they confirmed offering the welcome bonus of 100% up to 2000 RAND.
