    Default African traffic

Over the past year or so a few of our sites have developed a lot of African traffic. This isn't something we've targeted, although it seems that a lot of our tips pieces seem to attract returning African visitors (well, direct entry at any rate).

Not too sure what I'm asking really but if anyone has any ideas about moneytising the traffic or getting more from the UK that would certainly be appreciated.

    Cheers!

You may wanna check this thread: https://www.gpwa.org/forum/african-p...frican+traffic

With a few exceptions almost everyone that has dealt or is dealing with tips sees low value in that traffic. There was another thread with a "success" story but idk how true it is at all.

From my perspective absolutely ''worthless'. They will come to your site, take the free tips, and while there mail you one of their scams!!

To be honest i've even thought about blocking Africa, because clicks from low value world countries do nothing for positive ranking!

That's funny. Ive been thinking about the same thing lately. Thing is after all we provide information as well, that's supposed to be educational. Thing is i am not even sure if they can read it, because they do get the search term somewhat correct and then bounce fast.

It's really funny when you can see the lighter side. Questions they ask include - What does +/-0 (draw no bet) mean?, What does -0.5 (win) mean. What does +0.5 (double chance) mean - We even write it in brackets like i showed above.

However, most irritating is when they send the national football lottery coupon from say Ghana and ask for predictions on 15 games - The same mail comes from 20 different people and we answer ''if we did that for all of you and it actually came, it would be the lowest dividend ever'' - They would answer - No man, it paid a million last week, it always does ------ They really don't understand that the lottery pool is divided!

And, then you get the ignorant ones with demands - send me, or when they register for your newsletter ''your e-mail is on hold - to gain priority to my mailing i just need to verify through a small bitcoin payment!!

Tell you what though - I would love betting shops in Africa - You could bet with the odds in their favour and they would still lose!

I haven't got around to banning Nigeria / Kenya / Uganda.
Might be cost effective in saving in bandwidth - because it's unlikely that they pay their way.

I don't get the scams but I do get the plaintive requests for lists of games, or sure wins, or to help them win money so they can go to school / feed their family etc. It really is the bottom of the barrel in terms of bettor knowledge, and bettor value.

They are only interested in long strings of sure wins and winning thousands per bet and not surprisingly nearly every bet loses.

We did set up an account with Eazibet in Kenya ...
1000s of signups, 100s of depositors and we've made around 10000 Kenyan schillings or about $100 bucks. (1 shilling = 1 cent)
And I haven't yet found a way to get it paid out ... as they seem to use mobile MPesa. (a kenyan system).

Overall - African punters have got mobile phones - and are discovering the internet in large volumes - but their net value is close to zero.

OK, thanks all. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

One question though, Everton are sponsored by SportsPesa, which I thought was Kenyan - no joy there?

Honestly, it's just not worth your effort. I would recommend that you go for a jog and reflect on what you already know about African bettors, useless to the core!

And, lets say you found one company that was performing well - If European programmes are ready to screw us, then what's the chance of a long term relationship in Africa. I mean, everyone screws everyone has a way of life!

I'm sure you've got better things to do, so don't even contemplate dealing with such!

Maybe you may try to test the performance of Google AdSense. It may convert. But you have to test it.

If you guys or anyone else posting here is thinking about blocking Nigeria and Kenya, I have a page with an exclusive bonus just for those 2 countries. If you can just forward the traffic directly to the landing page instead of blocking it, I will take that traffic. No need to let it land on your site homepage first - just redirect it straight to the link (it has your aff id so if they play you will earn from them still).

Hit me up for the link.

Nice to see somebody that is not so totally prejudice about Africa. Sure, there may be some "sh1thole countries" on the continent but this is not a unique phenomenon on planet Earth.

It's the Grand Mondial link I sent you a little while ago. Will forward it again shortly.

It will be interesting to see how some of this turns out after a while.

I understand it will take some time to determine the outcome, but for those testing this, please let us know later.

    Hi guys,

I think for African traffic and African bookmakers in general, there is a massive misunderstanding. I think this comes down to historical low quality traffic and few legitimate operators. However things have changed dramatically in the past 3 years.
African traffic now has real value and, as long as you work with legitimate, locally licensed operators, the traffic will convert very well and generate decent returns.
Some of our partners are seeing very good earnings in quite a few countries, like Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, etc.
It works a little bit differently with these Operators, but as long as you know who to work with, and send traffic to the right guys, it will convert and you will get paid.
    Definitely take a closer look

I think anytime you offer something free you tend to get a lot of lower value traffic, some of these freebets are worth a weeks salary in some places though T&C usually restrict certain countries, but how many actually read the rules?

Agreed. Free bets are a double-edged sword. But there are many ways to convert African traffic and very decent operators out there. But the fact remains, this is a market with big player volumes needed to generate decent revenues
