As part of our on-going commitment to upholding our obligations with the UK Gambling Commission, specifically in our duty to protect children and vulnerable people from gambling harm we require that by the 30th June 2019 all BetVictor Affiliates age-gate all their social media pages to followers who are 18 years old and above.

Both Twitter and Facebook offer this functionality and we advise that you speak to your account manager at each platform to enable this feature across all your groups and pages.
Alternatively, you can do the following:


For Facebook:
• Login to Facebook and click ‘Settings’ at the top of the page
• From ‘General’ select ‘Age Restrictions’
• Select the desired group: ‘People 18 and Over’
• If you hold an Instagram account, please contact your account representative to enable this feature on these pages or use the Help Centre and select ‘report a problem’ and follow the on-screen instructions


For Twitter:
• Use the ‘Help’ button in your ads dashboard to contact the Twitter support team
• https://help.twitter.com/forms/featu...feature=follow
• Twitter should take 24 hours to enable this feature after your request


Once you have enabled this feature please send over proof this has been done, this can be the email from Twitter/Facebook confirming the update or a pop-up on your pages showing the feature in operation. Emails should be sent to affiliates@betvictor.com


Pages found to not have age-gating enabled could result in your affiliate account being suspended and commissions withheld.

Facebook pages are straightforward, however has anyone had any luck doing this with Twitter?

The form linked to on Twitter doesn't fill me with confidence it has to be said and as I recall there's no requirement for date of birth when signing up with Twitter, just a statement that you're over 13 years of age. Analytics in the account has other demographics but not age, so I'm wondering if this is wild goose chase.

If this is a UKGC requirement then I expect the other bookies will follow suit.

I'll also note that twitter does NOT do age verification on signups - so that anything regarding age restriction that twitter do pretend to put in place is just semantic virtue signalling anyway ...

Yep, only thing I could see was this statement: By signing up, you agree to our Terms, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Use. You also agree that you’re over 13 years of age. Not exactly bulletproof that when filtering out under 18s from any account's followers!

Nope same here. Told this to BV and that other affiliates were in the same position. They said keep trying and that other people had managed to do it.......

My twitter account has blank fields for birthday - always has done.
I can access R18 (nudie) twitter posts.

Some brands are also rolling this out across Affiliate sites as well. Whats the best way to Age Gate an Affiliate site without it crucifying your stats? (Although I guess the traffic will be more qualified...)

From my understanding, to follow you users have to put their DOB on their profiles. Who's gunna want to do that really?

And what about existing followers who do not have the DOB on their profile?

Wondering if once you install this Age Gate thing does that decimate your followers to virtually nothing and getting new ones will be even harder.

I tried following BV from an account with DOB shown on profile and still didn't work. Not sure how you are meant to show it.

They simply didn't respond to any emails on the subject with me - just sending out their initial madness and then going quiet.

I'm split between the choice of simply leaving this alone or being proactive and rattling their cage so that they confirm that we are all in order. I am just a little wary that if I let it lie than a month or so down the track they'll get all agitated with some angle on this.

I spoke to 3 people there, they emailed me after I replied saying done it 3 times and no reply. One person asked for the username and said they would get BVs account manager to do it. Sent it them but had no reply
