Default All UK Affiliates: ASA will actively police UK websites from 1st March

This came up in a thread here about linking to gamble aware, and it reminded me that I'd been meaning to post a thread about this for a while.

From 1st March the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) will be actively policing UK websites. Until the announcement I actually thought they already did, but just didn't care too much. So a change may be coming.

The ASA will ensure that gambling websites comply with both the Gambling Act, 2005 and the Code of Advertising Practice set out by the ASA.

    Just a heads up!

Gambling Domains: Small clear out of some of the domains we've been hoarding on Dan - see the list here. Prices negotiable, and willing to swap for decent links.

CAP's (Committee of Advertising Practice!) code specifically for gambling advertising can be found here.

There are also plenty of other rules throughout the entire CAP guide, I would definately suggest it's worth a read if you are advertising to the UK market.

This policy would only cover advertisements and marketing communications and not everything online.. But would it be fair?..
