    Default American Facing Affiliates

I was wondering, why are some affiliate programs able to accept American players and others are not?

I can tell you that specifically with operators using Microgaming and Playtec software, they are not allowed to accept U.S. players by network terms and conditions.

Hey GamblingJoe, are you asking about players or affiliates?
If you are asking about players, then look up UIGEA. That explains all and many people can fill you in on anything you can not find.
If you are referring to affiliates, then some affiliate programs will still have problems paying US affiliates. You may have European, Australian, Canadian or in fact traffic from anywhere else except the US, however some programs will still have problems paying out to you if you have a US address. It is worth while checking with a program prior to signing up and seeing if they are able to 1. accept you and 2. pay you.

Yeah from the players angle there are tons of restrictions.

Most of the big software companies (microgaming, playtech, netent, IGT...) all block US players at the server level. I believe there are also restrictions put in place by certain licensing jurisdictions (eg: UK, malta) - don't quote me on that though, someone mentioned it at a conference but it sounds reasonable and afaik none of the US facing programs are licensed in the UK or any of the white list jurisdictions.

Then you have the whole DOJ going around seizing peoples domains thing... plus a lot of payment processors won't touch gambling transactions from the US...

    Etc etc etc..
