Yup, the video is no longer on YouTube.. I searched and searched. No Becky Black

The song I loved to hate, yet listened to it secretly once.. maybe twice.. ok ok.. 5-6 times a week is now gone. It left an empty void in my Friday.

I saw this! And the only reason I watched it... was to see if Becky Black was in the video. I tried to figure out who the Hanson guys were.. and could find them!

This is actually an interesting story - or rather the story behind the take down of the video. Rebecca Black's mum paid Ark Music to produce the song and video for her daughter. She thought they (as part of the contract for the song etc. production) had copyright of it all. However, the song/video went viral and the dollar signs lit up in Ark Music's eyes. Thus they invoked some smallprint clause (whether it really works this way and applies is now in the hand of the lawyers) and say that they (Ark Music) have all rights to the song, the video, and even Rebecca Black's name and image(s) (!). Ark Music slapped on a $2.99 fee to see the video, and Rebecca Black and her mum objected saying that the video should remain free to view on Youtube - hence the takedown notice of their own video.

So the lesson to affiliates here (and indeed everyone) is to read the smallprint in anything, even if you think it will be of no consequence! Not that is matters sometimes to a company if they think they are big enough to bully the small guy/girl. No idea in this case who is right by the way, so don't take that as me taking one side or the other in this dispute.

The real losers or winners (depends if you really do hate the song) here in this sad story of greed are the listeners... I hope Ark Music lose out.

After Rebecca Black and Friday left youtube and left me lonely... I had to find a new anthem to champion my Fridays..
It had to be equally awesome.. and questionable at the same time.
I wanted to look away.. but I couldnt.
