    Default Analytics question

    Hi

On GA, checking the stats for organic searches, the vast majority are listed as Keyword: (not provided). Does anyone know what/why that is?

    Cheers
    Bob

edit - done a little looking around via a well-known search engine and got some answers but if anyone has anything to add would still be appreciated. Ta.

    Hi freebetsfreetips,

It means the user was signed in to google when they clicked the search result.

Google says it hides this information for user privacy reasons.

Right, cheers. Have seen a few suggestions for ways round it but none seem that good. So there just isn't a way round it then? As Google continues to get more and more logged in users, which seems fairly likely, the stats are going to become less and less useful. Feckers.

    Hi Bob,
Organic searches are the results of the search engine spiders crawling and indexing the web. When someone visits a search engine and searches
for something they are given a list of sites. Some are paid advertisements and some are "organic" search results.

I remember when they first changed it, everyone was trying to think of 'ways round it' but I am yet to read a decent one

Unfortunately there's no way around it as the information isn't passed in the header. Annoying, right?!

You can try and have a guess based on the landing page, but that's about it.

There is a tactic for removing that phrase and making the keywords visible but you have to again Google to over-Google it !
