Antigua unhappy with the WTO

Add the World Trade Organization to the list of people/countries/organizations that Antigua is disappointed in when it comes to resolving its trade settlement with the United State over online gambling. Antigua wanted the WTO Dispute Settlement Body to take up the matter because the U.S. and Antigua have not been able to reach an accord themselves. But the WTO declined to hear the issue.

From what I understand the WTO has already made a decision...

The WTO has already said the USA is guilty of protectionism of online gambling. After all it is rather obvious what the US is doing, the whole world sees it.

According to the WTO ruling against the USA, Antigua can "take" $21 Million dollars a year in whatever US owned intellectual property they want in exchange for getting screwed out of $1.5 Billion a year in online gambling revenues... What a deal...

Antigua just wanted to get a "fair" deal from the WTO, I understood that was the reason for this last go with the WTO.

This is all a very interesting story and Antigua is getting the short end of the stick. Once US regulation comes I bet they offer Antigua access again but noone will use their services.

Never gonna happen...

I would love to see it, but the US is the Big World Power and Antigua is just a speck of fly crap in comparison.

The US has already warned Antigua;

The US has also written to the WTO criticising Antigua's plans. In a letter to the WTO, excerpted on the Caribbean 360 news website, it said the plan amounted to "government-authorised piracy".

It also warned that if Antigua did go ahead with its plan "it would only serve to postpone the final resolution of this matter, to the detriment of Antigua's own interests".

The US is telling Antigua in so many words... "Go ahead, do it and see what happens".

If I were running Antigua, I would blow off the the WTO(they are never gonna win - the WTO was set up by the US for the US) they should just set up a US Corporation, call it 'Antigua Inc.' and then sue the crap out of the US Justice Dept in Federal Court for restraint of trade and whatever else their lawyers could come up with.
