Default Anyone pay any mind to the WSOPE

Just curious. So funny how there is this massive fuss for the norm WSOP and yet being the very first one outside the US..... besides the big shot sites writing about it I have seen nothing.

What is just crazy is with the US one it is shoved in your face who the winner was and I have been really surprised that the WSOPE winner hasn't been as publicized especially considering its the first time a women has won the main event of any WSOP.

I know most of you are into casinos but I thought I would just throw this out there cause there has to be people who pay attention to this stuff lol

Just thought it was kind of odd how one can defeat the other on such a bigger scale.

Cant change the title so ignore the way it was written..............lol

I was vaguely aware it was going to happen soon - as I'd seen some build up ... but you're right - it never even raised itself on my radar at all.

As for why no fevourish following ?

Well it's hardly the World Series of Poker is it?
We just had that - and THAT's what crowns the world champion.
You can't get it more than once per year.
I mean imagine a superbowl every month - it just not happening.

I guess European Series of Poker didn't have as good a ring to it ?

I assume it might also be because the fields are smaller, the prizes are smaller, and many of the star names are absent ?

    Oh - who won?
It won't spoil the surprise as we probably won't even see it on TV here.

Regardless of what people may think of the WSOPE's status among the more important tournaments of the year, it's still pretty significant in my eyes considering it was the first time a woman not only took down a "sanctioned" WSOP Main Event, but it was also done by a well known internet pro who hasn't even reached her 21st birthday!

It should have gotten more press around the internet at least, but I could see why it didn't -- it just wasn't as built up and advertised as much as the WSOP here in the USA. Plus, being that it was in Europe and organized in a very short period of time, it was very difficult to bring in the huge fields and big name players that the normal WSOP usually has.
