Default Simplified or Screwed? APCW Perspectives for 2 May 2025

    Simplified - or - Screwed?

The UK is working hard to "simplify" taxes for gambling operators.
However, those operators are not so sure things will be simple,
and the concern is their plans are just another cash grab.

We also follow up on a story we covered from Sweden,
and discuss news out of the Netherlands.

I feel sorry for the operators in England; they're really unfortunate to be operating in such a hostile environment for the industry... and it'll get worse.
The report from Sweden seems to me like a document intended to support a likely tightening of enforcement, which apparently isn't being carried out effectively... In any case, that's just my own assessment.

Thanks for the great show as always

The UK gambling commission are absolutely hopeless and they are only looking out for their best interests. Always appreciate your hard work, JT, and the effort you put into making these videos for the GPWA. I'm sure there are plenty of good people, who would be in complete agreement.

I saw the title and immediately thought, "No matter what, if it's from the UK, the answer is screwed." I really don't know at this point how operators and affiliates continue to work there. My guess is it’s not their only or main focus, but on top of the open hostility, keeping up with all the nonsense is a full-time job. Thanks, JT, for giving us the summary.
