Backlinks

It has been some time since I worried about backlinks (obviously by only now having 1 showing from the Google Toolbar), Google Webmaster Tools claims I have over 40,000 but of course they don't like to show that. It seems it was much easier 5 years ago to get decent backlinks but now I feel lost lol.

Any advice on where to go?

I think that's the common way when it comes to Gambling. For other niches you can get free backlinks when you have good site with good contents, your visitors will do your link building work. I know this personally as I have few music related websites that gets backlinks from visitors even from BBC news website.

To check your backlinks, Yahoo site explorer is the best backlink checker, but it's no longer available. I use "Open site Explorer" now, you will have to pay 99$ to view the full list otherwise it's restricted to 20.

http://www.ahrefs.com will show you most of your links (it's better/more up to date than Yahoo ever was). I presume they take their data from Majestic.

Its really hard to build links to gambling sites, it seems like no one likes these links. I don't know where the bad stigma came from, gambling isn't that bad surely lol Forums and blog comments seem to be good, and articles too. Things were certainly easier 5 years ago, even ranking in Google

Great resource by the way, easy way to check backlinks. Much more convenient than adding sites to the Google Webmaster Tools. Thanks so much Peter Willis.

I read somewhere that they have their own bot to crawl the web.
