Best Font Style?

What is the best font style to use so that when you move from comparability view to non-compatibility view in IE so it doesn't change? I noticed on my one website the font style changes when I move to compatibility view which can move things around because of the different amount of space the text needs because of the change.

In my style sheet it has 3 different fonts which I think is because some browsers only support certain styles, so what is a style that looks good and is compatible with all browsers and doesn't change?
