    Default Best Hardwallet for USDT?

Currently I use Coinomi as I have such a small amount of USDT coming in but now another account is going this way and would like to get a Hard wallet .I am first to admit I am not a genius on this .My Trezor accepts ETH which is ERC20 but it has no specific Tether option as we see on Coinomi. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I'm not familiar with Trezor, but maybe check to see that you have the latest firmware, as it should be able to accept USDT or to download the USDT app.

Hardwallet is not a holy grail. I am saying this for 100x in my life and for 10x at least here. The safety of hardwallet depends on security of seed. So it takes the same effort to store the seed of coinomi and of any HW.

Coinomi is BIP44, so the seed is compatible with both Trezor and Ledger. So you can easily use your addresses from Coinomi at HW wallet, but in your case the seed is likely compromised, so it is better to generate a new one.

I strongly suggest using some web3 wallet for tokens. E.g. Metamask. The HW wallets (at least Ledger that I am using) are having "heavy" software, that makes constant problems, is not open source, needs constant updates, consumes a lot of data and at least by Ledger is a nightmare.

It is much better to use third party wallet like Metamask, that works in a way like a skin for thee HW wallet. Using Metamask + HW wallet simply combines the samee level of security of HW wallet with much more user friendly SW.

now another account is going this way
This part I do not understand. Any wallet has unlimited amount of accounts or addresses.

None of my seeds are compromised .Ace Revenue is not giving anymore wires and only have USDT options. I have Coinomi , Blockchain , Coin Square , Kracken plus my own hard wallet just never had a huge amount of USDT to deal with before now. We receive and sell right away and deposit to our Corporate account via Coinsquare which seems to be the only option for Canada.

I don't hold crypto, I get paid it, I convert to fiat, then send to bank account.

    What I don't understand...
My AU wallet, which is also my exchange, the USDT address, is the same identical address as my ETH addy.

ETH currently sits at AU$2,650 or there about. USDT at AU$1.54

Given both use the same crypto addy, how does the wallet know what is what or visa versa?

At least Coinomi is a non custodial wallet.

I can tell you that my coworkers use Ledger and Trezor. They are also our partners and I am sure it is a good solution

If you do not have much crypto, simply use Exodus
it will make your life easier than dealing with Trezor or Ledger, because on the day to day basis, having to fill in your device password every 5 minutes - at least for ledger - is really annoying.

How many times you send money somewhere?
I send crypto from my wallet less than once in a month.
For receiving there is no need to put password in.

If you do not have much crypto then use HW wallet. If you have a lot of crypto, use dedicated computer and SW wallet. (The opposite that 99% of people suggest)

    define electrum like?

IMHO the ETH standard is metamask (and just like electrum it can be connected to HW wallets)
but it is not a program (like electrum), it is a plugin for a browser

Btw I just read that transactions of USDT over Tron are now greater than over ETH, which makes sense because over tron, they are for free almost

Not sure if this is correctly understood: there is no wallet for USDT, there is a wallet for the underlying transport coin, which can be ETH, TRON, Liquid, SOL, Polygon, Tezos, Cosmos etc etc etc.

So you are looking for a wallet of the transport protocol that you will use.

this is why all HW wallets are **** at exactly the issue they are trying to solve (long term safe custody)

Thanks, clearly since it was close to 500 wallets, clearly was a flaw in firmware.

Hopefully the issue will not grow beyond those affected so far.

Was surprised they had not linked to a step-by-step of what coldcard users should do to protect themselves to move to a different wallet.

Best I can tell this is what users of coldcard should be looking at.

I guess it was not only 500 wallets affected. They just cleaned the 500 of the most funded (over 0.15 BTC balance); maybe from some subset. But much more wallets were compromised.

They chose the top 500 for some reason and I guess it was connected to the capability of BTC blockchain that can carry about 2000 tx per block and maybe they wanted to stay under the radar to have some time to clear the money. Just my guess.

The users should move the coins to the safe exchange and then think about security before they want to use their own wallet again, because clearly if a wallet offers an extra security step and users choose not to use it, then they should not use any wallet, unless they are prepared to lose the money.

Your best bets are Ledger and Grid+ for cold storage. If you're just moving from receiving to an exchange, you shouldn't need all of that. Metamask should be good enough for your needs. Just protect your seedphrase and NEVER and I mean NEVER have it installed on your phone.

Recommending HW wallets in a thread where HW wallet just failed is what? Ignorance? Idiocy? Idk
