Polylang works well in conjunction with the DeepL API, but this is only available for the paid version of the plugin.
Another must have plugin is Loco Translate.

WPML is a more comprehensive, feature-rich option with advanced translation management tools, but it comes at a cost. Polylang is a great free alternative for simpler needs, the paid version extends its functionality, but in any case WPML will give more features.

We're using Linguise. And in the past used TranslatePress + DeepL translate API.

Can anyone attest to the quality of the translations?

I know with straight translation on google translate, you're not always getting contextual rephrasing and sometimes completely non contextual for gambling.

I'm know translation tools have gotten better, though my plan currently for multilingual content is manually putting the english content into ChatGPT and instead of asking for a direct translation, to provide a similar length freshly worded version in another language(difference being, asking it to retain key information and concepts, and use that to write something new in the other language). And also, using geo-specfic content. E.g., homepage for Spain, or review for Germany, with appropriate hreflang tags(but will have more than one for each language, for example for english, one for Canada, one for U.K., etc, and can also suggest different casinos appropriately, as well as in a reviews, speak directly of support or lack there of for the specific country the hreflang tag is for - as not only for telling google the language used and equivalent pages in other languages, but the specific geo that page is for). And manually using GPT prompts, can request that geo focus, so it's included and worded appropriately.

Obviously, this way will be way more work. Though seriously considering it.

Other thing is, was going to use a plugin for assigning the non-english pages a separate navigation menu for each specific language. Will have their own separate site structure basically. With some languages less elaborate available content on the site than others.

Clearly, a lot of of drawbacks to that method rather than using the translation and multi-lingual site plug ins.

One issue I have with the multi-lingual plugins, which I'm not sure exactly the resolution for if I used them - is if they create completely independent casino pages, with my current theme, all the different versions would show in the casino archive pages. So was considering just not using the built in casino pages for the theme for other languages, and creating independent custom post type for the casino pages, one post type for each language, so can have separate archive pages etc. Wouldn't be styled the same as the english version, but I can live with that.

Though, if done with translation and multi-linqual plugins instead, not sure if the translation plugins actually would create duplicate listings in the custom post type structure, or if they just basically clone the page and replicate it without actually creating new actual casino listing page(like if you have "casinos" in your theme, and one of those plugins, would you still just have only the english reviews in the "casino" section of the admin panel, and if you change those, does the translation plugin just update the replica pages in the different languages?)

I have a lot of marketing in other languages this year, but not on my own sites yet. Guerrilla marketing, basically doing geo specific social media marketing, direct linking to casinos rather to my own casino portals at least so far(I buy a lot of verified accounts and post content on them about casinos, not going to explain the exacts). Had more success with it the past six months than I did with my portal sites from search engine traffic. Though getting back to work on a portal site that I plan on doing in multiple languages and use it for landing pages instead of direct linking to casinos, since I think it will be more valuable in the long run I can get a portal site to gain traction. Though figured I'd just integrate the non-english reviews and site pages a little at a time, and just work on it some everyday for the next few years until the other other languages are caught up. I can see how that will be a huge problem, as if there is 10 languages, and need to change a review, would then have to change 10 different reviews. Whereas I'm guessing with the translation plugins, can just change one, and have the other pages updated automatically with the new translation.
