Interesting site but the commission rates for smaller affiliates dont look so attractive :

Accumulated Number of New Players Across All Products Per Calendar Month Percentage of
    Net Gaming Revenue
    0 players 12.5%*
    1 - 50 players 20%
    51 - 100 players 25%

    * Note that the percentage of Net Revenue for 0 new Players will only be payable where the Affiliate has, in any previous calendar month, introduced one or more unique depositing Players. As such, an Affiliate will continue to receive the minimum Revenue Share in respect of previously-introduced Players for such time as those Players continue to bet on the Sportsbook.

Was considering giving Betbright a chance, but reading this, moving swiftly on! Just don't deal with people in the industry who either start off with bad terms or change their terms for the worse. Walk away, log why you did, and advertise someone else. They're not a big enough brand to compete on much worse terms than others.

Feel the same way as you mate. New bookie starting up what pretty ****** commission rates for small/medium affiliates. Perhaps superaffiliates will have no problem with it.
Some months you will probably not get any depositing players leaving you with 12.5% rev share for existing players that might get paid somewhere in the future when you have a good month.

Come on Betbright .. What was you head of affiliate depatment thinking? Did he think that you was the PokerStars in the online betting industry?
No go for us.. Will chose Bet365, betfred, coral, betvictor any day before promoting you. Your rates are simply not competitive compared to other UK bookies. At least we at those other sites will get 25-40% rev share even if you dont get any new depositing players in the month.

We get 2 million visits per month and we couldn't even justify it. We could perhaps get into the higher tiers, but given the risk of falling into a crappy commission tier one month if you decide to promote another advertiser more strongly, it's not worth it for us. Plus, I don't like companies who treat smaller affiliates than us badly. We were smaller once and I think that whether you refer 1 player or 100 players a month, to a business, on average, a player has a certain value, and it doesn't really matter what volume you are referring.

When a company has restrictive terms it also makes me wonder what else they might do in the future. It doesn't get the business relationship off to the best start, nor instil confidence in building a large player base at that company.

I can see what advertisers are trying to do with quotas - they're trying to retain space on your sites and forcing your hand in a way as it's difficult to swap them out to try someone else for a while as you then risk missing your quota. However, I think it generally works against advertisers when they do this - it looks bad, it gets them bad press across all the affiliate forums (quotas are seen as a predatory term), and as an affiliate you just choose a handful of advertisers and do not broaden your portfolio because you would rather perform strongly for 5 advertisers, than averagely for 30 advertisers.

It's better than as an advertiser you work with people, treat them well, and if your exposure is dropped then work with the affiliate on getting it back. Market forces dictate - if another company is offering an affiliate a better deal and they convert well and the business case/bottom line adds up, then other advertisers need to compete with these deals (carrot), not try to persuade an affiliate to keep advertising them through restrictive terms (stick). No one likes a stick!

Seems a bit naïve too. Having worked for a lot of big corporates as a business analyst I have no idea what goes on in some companies whereby a project team comes up with the final implementation of a set of rules for an affiliate program. Some of the things implemented (and some are a lot worse than minimum quotas) just seem like decisions made on the whim of one crazy headstrong individual/manager, not a measured requirement that is a result of a set of objectives.

Looking back at the rev share though. Seriously, no big affiliate would work for 25% for 51+ players per month. It's always negotiable. For such a small brand I'd be looking at asking for 35%+ depending on the deal, perhaps a hybrid CPA/rev share in order for a small brand to replace big brand space on our sites.

Funny i got an email from them asking to promote them. I am glad i read this post first.
Even if you did negotiate a better deal how long would it be before the terms are changed for the "better"

This is exactly the sort of group action / voting with feet that the industry needs to keep it competitive for affiliates

Amazed anyone can launch an affiliate program with tiered rates that effectively tell affiliates to drop dead. I do not think superaffiliates would be alright with this. Terms like this tell you a lot about the attitude a firm has towards all affiliates

Also suggests they have no clue as to the benefit of affiliate marketing to their own company. Usually new companies shaft affiliates once they are established, not before they even get going properly.

I do sign up to programs like this with no expectation that its going to make money.. It goes to the bottom of the list just to fill content, If they had good terms i would rotate them on prime positions.. But like many these guys come into the biz expecting super affiliates signing up and promoting them giving everybody else minimums or don't get paid.. We all started small and most of us that came in recently are jaded about companies like this, Big Or Small affiliates work hard and deserve to be paid fair for what they do.
