Hi All,
I heard that several affiliates have been affected by viruses on skype. I know most of the time we are all careful, but please be extra careful as it looks like we will see more of these over the holiday period.

Thanks for the warning. I've been getting weird requests from people I've never heard of before, even from bots. Absolutely ridiculous. You've always got to keep your guard up.

Thank you for the advice.
I will use it to be careful of viruses.
It also shows the gullibility of people... who click on anything.

A piece of advice:
- never open/click on links that look strange (eg. unusual extension, strange domain or link, etc)
- if you want to open it, and you are in doubt, do it smart: always ask to send the files via email that uses some kind of anti-virus
- validate file/link via your antivirus or at least via online services eg. https://www.virustotal.com/
- never trust strangers or even known people who offer you something under time-pressure (out of blue deals)

Agree with FreeSpins...
You need to always been on high-alert.
Personally, I've stopped accepting any type of downloads from Skype or anywhere which I can not verify the sender, and scan the file beforehand.

Thank you for the heads up!

Good reminder. Unless I specifically ask for a document I will never click on any file/link in a skype message and certainly never click on files in e-mails. If needed I will send an e-mail to the person if I know to confirm but certainly never click on something from anyone unknown.
Last year we learned that Skype has a big problem with their software. It's been compromised and people are using it to send out viruses instead of having an actual conversation. This is done by abusing a loophole in the software.
See, Skype doesn't care who you talk to or what you say on there. It's an open platform for communication and therefore can be used by people for all kinds of scams.
