Has anyone seen the new 'exchange' tab on the ladbrokes homepage?
Looks like betfair are (hopefully) going to get some stiff competition soon, I assume Ladbrokes will be incorporating the purchase of Betdaq on to their main website soon.

This could be quite interesting! Hopefully one of the new ladbrokes people can shed some light on it.......
Betting Expert wrote an article on this recently and what the impact of this could be - and I'd expect that Betdaq is incorporated into the Ladbrokes Exchange tab very soon. It'll be very interesting to see what Ladbrokes do further to that with it.

The exchange tab has now gone live, and as Luke suggested it looks like it is BetDaq in a Ladbrokes skin

That's going to be interesting if they roll it out to the highstreet, going to have to be a much more simplified interface if the average punters want to bet on it.
I assume they'd need to increase the commission to, with the higher overheads of shops.
I don't think there's any chance Ladbrokes would role it out to the high street and can't see it having any impact at all:
- They'd be earning 3% commission (plus 1% margin) vs (taking a random race today, the 14:10 at Leicester) a 16.4% overround, which is a huge reduction in potential profit, and a margin that a shop can't sustain.
- High street punters aren't particularly price sensitive (incidentally neither are the vast majority of online punters) so they wouldn't gain the type of customer that is profitable for them
- They'd have to seed it with huge sums (right now there is £155 matched on the race above, and pennies available to back/lay at anywhere near the high street prices). If you start laying large sums across your shops at a 101% book minus a 3% commission, smart punters will be swarming around shops. Also, I'm not sure what the point of laying those prices "just" in shops would be, so you'd have huge liquidities need to be available to allow for shop bets, but smart punters could just pick them off from home online too.
- Almost every race would become bad each way.
I would love them to roll it out to the high street!
Edit: Went back at 14:09 - £93k matched on the race and still very low liquidity on both sides. With 2,000 Ladbrokes shops in the UK, that'd be the equivalent of them taking bets of around £20 per shop on the race!
