One of the biggest topics lately has been the recent legalization of internet gambling in the United States. Speculation, and often intervention of the big names in the land casino industry have been claiming that this would only take away from their establishments, and decrease the number of jobs in this sector.

At first glance one would like say, "Yes this must be true." Of course broadening the scope of an industry almost always leads to diluting the revenue of existing companies. But in this case the experts are saying no, and the the data is starting to come in that backs that up.

    It does take some income away from land based operators but the land based casinos need to come to grips with reality that there is gambling everywhere, land based and online and it is tougher for them to compete and earn the money they used to. Think about Las Vegas, it used to be THE gaming destination of the world for profit and for appeal but now that is being dwarfed by Macau and Singapore which earn more than Las Vegas and has also cut into their profts with he loss of Asian gamblers.

    There are simply more casinos around the world year after year and mega gambling resorts along with more local casinos will make places like Las Vegas a little less appealing.
