I am not sure what you mean mate but things are getting worse. I am starting to think it may be to do with the recent google update. Literally dropped off the charts, can't even find myself on most searches at the moment.

As an option, manual penalties. Try to disallow bad links that you think are negative. Or wait until the algorithm is updated.

If I were you I would definitely be disavowing all the blogspot link spam. Probably daily given that your link profile is shallow overall and those links are spammy as ****.

I would say the link profile on our main site is "deep" so I dont think the blogspot spam affects us much, because the older a site is and more real links it has, the more Google will tolerate spam links/obviously purchased links they have... BUT, even with that said, I am disavowing this blogspot **** probably 2x a week because we are getting 30+ **** links per day right now. It is crazy.

I'm also thinking about disavowing these damn links, but for some reason my GSC shows only the legit links I got from blogspot sites (there are only 5-6 sites). If Google doesn't report those links in GSC, so why bother disavowing then? These links are already a few months old, anyone has any stats with "before and after", to see any signs this really needs to be done?

I reckon the disavow tool is there for a reason, and I try to update my shite links file regularly. Otherwise, it will be challenging to do it later. Often I see these losers using anchors of the main keywords I target, linking to me from all sorts of places, so I disavowing them for the sake of peace in my mind.

I've also added the code below to my htaccess file to stop my images from being hot-linked.

    This one just blocks hotlinking
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)stick-your-site-here.com/.*$ [NC]
    RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg|jpeg|bmp|zip|rar|mp3|flv|swf|xml|php|pn g|css|pdf)$ - [F]

And with this, you can have an image of your choice be shown on the other end
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)your-site.com/.*$ [NC]
    RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg)$ image-of-your...jpg [R,L]

I am still getting them, but down to 5-10 per day instead of 30+.

Once we bought a couple of domains that had mostly blogspot links in their link profile, and then we put links from those domains to money sites. And the money sites were losing positions. So, I would also recommend to disavow blogspot backlinks.

I think that's a different issue. The links from blogspot (although sometimes wierdly scrambled articles) are still considered gambling content, so I don't thing it can hurt. Meanwhile if those were porn sites or other that don't have anything in common with your domain, can hurt you in my opinion.

The gambling industry is in a funny position here: for most people gambling is considered 'spammy'. So what is considered spammy for gambling domains? :P I wonder how Google sees this.

The blogspot links started back up again for me. Not full force, but more than the trickle it had gone down to. Bah

How many have you done? There is data from what threshold value the growth began? Was anything else used?

I do not understand your question.

Getting 25-50 blogspot backlinks per day according to Ahrefs. I am sure the true number is far higher. So whatever slowdown or pause happened, it has ceased and the blogspot backlink spam is back in full force.

A good way to get something back from anyone who hotlinks is, setup your htaccess to serve a specific image (blank image with your sites URL), on any wildcard image call, which is from any domain other that your own. You can whitelist whoever you want, but the secret is to serve an image other than what the hotlinker is yanking... Using an image with your URL added, is some free advertising
