Don't quote me on this but I think they were kind of born out of wordpress: https://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/

You can create them with php and run on any platform. The shortcode might be [bet365bonus] and then you can change what text shows in place of the shortcode from a central location. Works great in the bonus column of a table for example as you change one location and every table that uses that shortcode changes to the new bonus info (or whatever you change the bonus info to).

For wordpress users this plugin is pretty sweet: https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/shortcoder/

A lot of themes either come with a few premade, or there's a plugin/s about it as well. Works exactly like a cloaked link, but think of it as cloaking a bigger piece, like an add, visual, table etc. Like doovde mentioned, once you edit the shortcode, it changes everywhere. A lot of affiliates already use them for geo-targeting. Instead of a text the have a shortcode that geoIps and serves the right content for the right demographics.

there are similar emails and deadlines, now for ES traffic
We are all bloodsucking ticks, hungry, devious
each one latched on to the ass of the previous
when the last and the first latch on it can be shown
ass-blood sucked by the first from the last is his own

Thing is getting this message from your manager and replying to it, and exchanging letters is one thing, writing back to update@bet365.com is another. In fact I highly doubt that's an email that replies, but then that'd would mean they messed up in the way of informing affiliates.

I got the message about Spain now also via their internal message system. I rather tried to reply even there, but it says there is some error, so the messaging does not work.

The emails are sent from AAC@bxxx5.com and update@; I suggest reply to all not just to the sender. God knows what is broken there.

No, it's not another thing. If you receive multiple emails from multiple accounts, telling you to do this and that, and you reply to one of them, you assume that the job is done, otherwise where is the point of bet365 sending all those emails?

If you wanna do it right, put the affiliate manager to send the emails, stop sending mails from multiple accounts.

My mistake was to respond only to update@bet365.com and not put a cc to my affiliate manager. But I did send a reply, I did send my account names, I did tell them I do not advertise any offer, in any country, I just link straight to them.

I don't even know what the bloody offer is anyway, for UK or for any other country, and I don't care, my traffic is not betting traffic, is people looking for streams.

I feel cheated in the most stupid way.

Bet365 messed up big time with this and it's a shame, they were (and still are) the best out there. I wonder when the account will be back to normal and also if there will be any compensation for this period.

    very pissed off...

PS: why would you suspend an account that has no traffic, just passive income, and not suspend the other account, which has traffic and obviously has more chances to advertise that damn offer I don't even know about? it's illogical.

I just read again the email received from update@bet365.com

    1. If you can initially acknowledge receipt of this email.
    2. Secondly, can you send a further email once all UK Opening Account Offer promotion has been removed (or that you do not target the UK with bet365 promotion) Ė prior to 12pm Friday.

Weíll have no option but to suspend those affiliates we do not hear from or who havenít taken necessary removal steps prior to 12pm Friday.

    1. it does not say where you should send the reply. I acknowledged the receipt of that email by sending a reply to update@bet365.com - it doesn't say "do not reply to this, send the email to your affiliate manager".
    2. I explained in the reply that I do not target any offers from Bet365 in any countries.

Now, what I did wrong and got the account suspended?

Which was exactly my point, that if they indeed monitored that email, they messed up. Just write to them I'm sure they'll sort it out. If anything, they are a book that's not looking for a first opportunity to close your account. I'm sure they enjoy your business and have no logical reasons to shut you down.

    Hi,

    We appreciate the concern.

Here is an overview of the current state of play.

    1. All affiliates, without prejudice and without factoring in size, relationship, target market, were emailed about the UK sports opening account offer changes, initially asking them to a) confirm receipt of our email and b) subsequently confirm that they had removed any references of the UK Sports open account offer within our deadline.

    2. We would have liked to send this with more notice but were unable to,due to wider business considerations.

    3. The deadline given was 12pm UK time, Friday 29/09/17, to remove UK sports opening account offer promotion, after acknowledging our initial communication.

    4. During the week, phone calls were attempted with those where no reply was received, to ensure that they had received the communication.

    5. Chaser emails along with web messages were also sent out via our messaging tool.

    6. At the deadline on Friday, any affiliates that had not confirmed receipt of the email, and had not confirmed the removal of any promotion, were added to a suspension list.

    7. Anyone that acknowledged the email, or confirmed the removal of promotion, after the deadline, had already been added to the suspended list.

    8. Accounts were suspended in order for us to establish contact with partners that didnít acknowledge our communication, due to our compliance obligations.

    9. No accounts have been closed, and we have no desire to close any account of any affiliate that wishes to work with us in a compliant manner.

    10. For reassurance, suspension in this instance essentially means you cannot login to your account. It doesnít mean that previous customers have been lost, or withdrawable balances have been affected, nor that players wonít track whilst your account is suspended.

    11. We did initially mention changing commissions (for the suspension period) to 0% in our initial email, but we decided not to take this course for 99% of suspended affiliates.

    12. Our own hosted content is a different matter entirely here, the priority is removing affiliate created content due to the longer lead times involved (because we donít control affiliate content directly).

The overarching point is that bet365 has a regulatory obligation to ensure its affiliates do not promote misleading and/or expired offers.

We appreciate deadlines were tight for all parties involved, including ourselves, however this isnít mitigation for not acknowledging our emails and phone calls in a climate where compliance is mandatory.

We are working hard to coordinate a huge undertaking of essentially removing the current UK Sports Open Account Offer from the internet. This is easier where our directly hosted content is concerned, but much more complex for any content that affiliates have created themselves.

If it transpires that there have been any errors (at our end) that have negatively impacted any affiliate, we will take responsibility and the required steps to remedy them. Our controls, checks, and deadlines here will have ensured that errors are very unlikely.

Finally, I/we rate every single member of our team very highly, and completely disagree with any opinion contrary to that.

This is the only public statement I am going to make on this.

    Thanks

Great post James. Now hopefully all of those who were worried can relax. A brand that wants to close the relationship with you, wont need an excuse the just do (for reference check around the forum, to see which brands are in the progress of doing it or have already done it).

I am confused, when I look on the bet365 website they are still pushing the old offer. Is it just me or does anyone else see this offer?
